              • @fowlli14: I had to forfeit ~$80 to Optus for their mistake and after calling them countless of times trying to let them sort it out finally received a threat that the debt will to be forwarded to a collection agency. No big corporation is perfect.

Still I feel that with Optus you get the most bang for your buck.

Looking to try out 1+6 in a near future, but I'm more than happy with my Pixel 2 XL :) I always promise myself that I'll keep the daily driver I have for few years at least, but… OzBargain :D

                • @datafellows: That is not good at all! I was referring to Apple in my previous message. I have mixed feelings about Optus.

Main reason I went there in the first place was value and Optus Sport. I do enjoy my EPL.

I have had my Iphone 6S now for nearly three years and it is slowing up but I think overall it could last me another year or so.

  • Wow! Great deal!

I’m on contract with Optus until January or February next year.

I had the Huawei P20 Pro on my list of phones to switch from a iPhone 7 Plus to. I just didn’t want to pay outright for it, but this just might do it.

Does this plan allowing data sharing?

    • I'm on a contact with Optus until January too. I'd have to pay a $100 contact cancellation fee.

Unfortunately Telstra got rid of their data sharing plans.

      • Darn. Thank you.

  • Shame huawei p20 pro doesn't support volte or vowifi on telstra

    • Shame it also doesn't support OIS on video recording and lack of updates from Huawei themselves. Don't expect to have support after a year.

  • I might go for this deal… Can I walk into a jb hi-fi and sort everything out on the spot (I'm porting from kogan)? Do they need payslips or something in order to do credit checks / approvals?

    • +1

Nah no need for any of that stuff. They run the credit check while in store

  • -5

    No iPhone, no deal

  • Are these phones unlocked? Ie can I sell them online?

  • Is the phone Telstra branded? Or Jb hifi stock? I am existing Telstra mobile plan customer, can I port in another number from Vodafone to get this deal? Thanks

  • Can I port out numbers from something like Kogan,Amaysim? This deal sounds pretty good.

  • -1

So just signed up to the Telstra $65 plan to get the p20 pro outright and now I see this offer.

What are the odds I can refund the phone purchase that was made outright, then resign up a new contract with the phone and $65 plan?

Can someone with some JB or Telstra background shed some light if I actually have a cooling period ?

    • +2

If you walked into store and did a connect there is no cooling off period.

    • -1

      cooling off period lmfao

      • Right so if it was a telstra online order there is a cooling period… thanks for your insightful response

    • +1

Unfortunately no such cooling off periods for contracts that have been completed in store. I would advise you contact Telstra immediately and see if they will be lenient. I can't give you too much information on breaking the contract unfortunately.

JB Hi-Fi can refund a phone that was purchased outright and have not been opened, you will have to discuss this with the store.

      • Thanks hypie, really wish the Telco guys could've told my father that it was coming out on plan and just to wait a few days.. almost feels like they just wanted the outright phone purchase to contribute to their sales target instead

        • Why on earth would they do that? Especially when they already have the sale sealed. These companies don't owe anyone a favour to tell customers that better deals are on the horizon.

    Fine print from the email

Offer valid until 11:59PM AEST 13/10/18. Excludes Sydney International Airport Store.

  • I'm guessing the P20 Pro would be a single SIM version?

  • The P20 Pro seems to be the best phone out of those 4 right ?

    • P20 Pro has the best cameras and battery life. Find X has a faster processor and more RAM. Also due to Find X unique slide out camera and bezel-less design, it has a larger display while being roughly the same dimensions as the P20 Pro. Find X is dual sim and uses face unlock, while P20 is single sim and uses a fingerprint sensor. P20 Pro has NFC and water resistance. It really comes down to which features are important to you.

does anyone know - can one of these plans be added to your current telstra account number, or do they want you to have a seperate account as its on a JB dealer account by the looks of it? TIA

    • This can be applied to your existing consumer Telstra account

  • Ported not even a month ago to a 40GB plan for $59 (instead of the $69 advertised) and now this.

And I've just checked Telstra, my plan is now offered with 60GB for $59…

    • Try the telstra chat or call them, I have successfully changed my plan from the $59 with 40GB from jb hifi to $49 with 60GB, yes you got that right, its cheaper with more data. You might have to try several times until you find a rep that will change your plan. I had to chat with 4 different reps and call 2 times before finally meet someone who are able to upgrade and make my plan cheaper.

      • I did actually just after posting and they upgraded me to 60GB but I didn't ask about adding my promotion on top of the upgrade, it's alright.

  • No stock of p20 pro in blue at altona north or other inner west stores. Black only. Just grabbed one. Thanks OP

    • It seems they (JBHifi) only have black and twilight. No blue ever.
I like Huawei's midnight blue color.

  • So just checking I can't redeem this if I'm already a Telstra mobile customer?

    • Yes, but you need to port a number from another carrier to do so. (ie. Activate a sim and then port the number to your Telstra account. ) I did this yesterday for a P20 Pro and it was fine :)

      • Just checking. I ported out from Telstra yesterday to Voda, then went in to JB hi-fi same day, and they said no, gotta be 30 days away from Telstra. This is a change from previously when port out and in had worked. So stuck on Voda for month now til good JB hi-fi deals come around again.

  • Thanks for the post, picked up a P20 Pro Twilight this morning. Already noticing better reception and data coverage/speeds over voda/optus.

  • Can I pricematch it at Telstra?

    • +1

tried it, didn't work, they don't even carry the p20 pro or find x.

Person didn't have any clue about what JB were selling.

  • Telstra support, allowed me to upgrade my Telstra mobile. Can I go to JBHIFI and take up their offer? Edit: i will try for myself tonight :).

  • For those who got the deal, I’m heading overseas soon - do you get a receipt as if you paid $999 for the device?

    • +2

Yes. So for the P20 Pro on the receipt is listed as a $999 product. They then apply an "online gift card" worth $999 to the receipt. GST included is $90.82

  • I have just moved from telstra to optus and my coverage is non-existent, hence l need to change back. So, l have an interesting question.

Considering that l don't own this number as its still under my mum's account, would l be able to take up this deal in my name, get a new number and then port my existing number over later. Maybe ill need to do a change of ownership with optus for this to work.

Edit: Just re-read the deal and i guess you have to have a number to port over to get this deal. If so, can l just activate a $2 sim or something cheap with optus just to get me across the line to get this deal.

    • Why not just get your mum to sign up for the deal. Or if you don't mind having to get a new number then can't see why you can't activate a cheap sim and port.

      • Correct me if i'm wrong but doesn't the deal require you not to be an existing customer of telstra, which my mum is and hence wouldn't be eligible or am l missing something.

Edit: Sorry, should have been more clear that my mum still holds an account with telstra for her mobile, so still tied to them. Also reading other comments here it seems you have to wait 30 days after porting from telstra to port back to them in order to be eligible for this deal, which is why l suggested opening it in my name.

        • Can confirm you have to be away from Telstra for 30 days. Tried Telstra chat before porting away and they weren't even in the hunt. I said "JB hi-fi deal $65 for 80gb" and they said "How about $80 for 65Gb? Would you like to sign up?" I didn't bother haggling further. The JB hi-fi deal has a flaming phone included!

  • I just got this deal earlier today. Used an old Optus prepaid card I had which was still active for some reason, despite not being used for 6 months or so.

Mind you, not all staff know about it since the circulation is through email only. Their normal promo is only $500 off. If the staff don't know about it, insist to see a supervisor.

Also a bonus, you get a Tax Invoice separate to a phone so you can use it as deduction.

Lastly, was told by the JB Hifi supervisor that this promo is from JB Hifi, not Telstra. They recently launched their own mobile brand reselling under Telstra hence all these promotions.

  • +1

hilarious how all the marketplaces now has these p20 pros popping up with proof of purchase from jb.

  • this was the best deal.

  • How do you guys find about these deals from jb hifi? Something you have to subscribe to?
