[SOLD OUT] 1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3 SATA2 - $35 at OTA

340

Hey guys, came across this awesome deal for $35. It says there it's a "Microsoft Promo" but you don't have to buy the item with anything else, you can buy it just by itself. The reason it's so cheap is because it's an EOL (End of Line). But I reckon it's a good deal nonetheless!

EDIT: Sorry, forgot to add it's around $15 for postage, so it still works out cheaper than going into MSY/Umart. Please note that this is a 1TB Internal HDD (7200rpm 32MB Cache).

I owned a Spinpoint once, for 1mth before it failed.
      I don't know why…

      • -1

        Mine are still going :)

    • 3.5" SATA

  • Please add what gb this drive is ie 500gb

    • Fixed, thanks for letting me know guys!

      • No worries, nice find :)

  • very good find, postage is ~ $14 oz wide i think, making it less than $50 for a brand new 1TB HDD.

  • Post for one is $13.15 to Sydney 2000 and Melbourne 3000

Seems to be a flat rate for 2, then increases slightly $17.55 for 5 and $24.15 for 10

NOTE: Other locations are more expensive - I ONLY checked Postcodes 2000 and 3000

  • "Manafacturer: Microsoft" ???
    And warranty? 1y or 3y?

And seems the website has not been putting much of effort in it.

    • Yeah I agree with you, their description is pretty lame, I guess it's written to attract those indexing bots like Google Adwords.
However, their terms and conditions state that all drives come with manufacturers warranty. I don't know how long samsung gives warranty, but I'd risk a year for $50.

  • Hmm warranty info would be good can anyone confirm wether its 1 or 3yrs?

  • I can't create an account or purchase it - is anyone else having trouble with the site?

  • Wow thats an awesome price for 500Gb's… to think hard drives would be this cheap one day! ( now ).. i still remember buying my very first hard drive it was a 6GB Seagate that cost me $200 bux… and it was a massive upgrading from the 800Mb hard drive i was using befor it.

    • This is a 1TB drive with 2x500GB platters. One of the fastest 7200RPM 1TB drives around. I own one and highly recommend it.

      • How long does it take to load Windows? lol

Do yourself a favor and go buy an SSD

    • I used to paid $99 for a box of 10 1.44 floppy disc at myer and $700 for a floppy disc drive let alone HDD. Add the inflation in and $99 is like $350 today's money.

      • About what year may I ask?

        • 1984 - actually it may be for the 720kb disc and not the 1.44 mb format.

        • i can recall buying boxes of 10x 720Kb 3.5" Disks from Verbatim $72.00 wholesale - that was about 1987 - With the comment about 1984 - i didnt realise that 3.5" were out then As they came out with the IBM PS/2 which was about 1986.

      • I still have a box of brand new Verbatim 8" floppies from some time before that….
Probably not much use to anyone now, but hopefully they will become collectable at some stage.

      • add in Zimbabwe's or Brazil's inflation and that one box of floppies would buy you a house now

  • thanks, just bought one. same postage rate for vic and sa for reference.

    cheers

  • looks like it could be 3yrs from a quick google…

  • cant see it at all~~

  • Link is now dead

  • It was $16 postage to the ACT. Not gonna happen… wouldn't cost more than $8-9 to ship.

  • This deal has been OzBargained. Boo!

    • or msy-ed/umart-ed:P LOOL

  • either ozbargained or price error…hopefully not latter then at least we have some happy ones here:P

    • i reckon its ozb'd
      most likely though

  • Totally OZBargained, I had 6 in my cart before I chickened out. Imma wait for a good deal on some 2TB drives. This deal was good, but not that good for my application.

Remember its only a bargain if you actually need it.

  • Haha yeah it's totally been ozbargained guys. One of the reps called me up to confirm my address and told me they had a sudden influx of orders coming through haha…I'm sure we all know from where ;)

  • If the drive is the HD-103SJ- was that the samsung model that had firmware issues with the newer SATA specs ? (drives not being recognised on bootup ?

  • Dammit! Hate it when things get ozbargained before I get a chance!
Once I posted a deal and it got ozbargained before I could buy one myself, haha.

Still, I probably don't need any more 1tb F3's, just wanted more cause their awesome in Raid 0.
Need a bargain on some 7200rpm 2TB's. Or maybe an SSD.

  • i reckon we could make our own urbin dictionar ary site. scotty?

  • what a deal to miss out on. I could have used a few

    GOD DAMN U BRODEN!!!!

why did you have to buy them all to resell and make $$$ lol!

  • +1

Damn. Wouldn't be surprised to see someone selling on ebay for $50+ in a few days.

  • Amazing deal that I seem to have missed on my late lunch break. :(

  • yeah no more its $66 now anyone know any good 2 TB deals around right now?

  • Luckily I picked up two today before they sold out :) (actually found a thread on whirlpool before this popped up on OZbargain)

I emailed the guys there just to confirm and they said its being processed & shipping tomorrow!

  • Last time I bought a bunch of HDDs that were a bargain when I didn't need them, really, it took me 2 months to get around to putting them in my computer, and by then HDD prices had fallen so much the price wasn't a bargain any more….

lesson is: never buy anything ever.

  • Ordered yesterday received today in Melb…. very impressed

  • +1

Ordered yesterday aswell and found this on my doorstep. I thought with the $15 postage they'd send through regular Australia Post. Turns out they used Startrack Express. First time buying off OTA, must say I'm very impressed.

  • +1

Just got mine today (ordered on Thursday arvo @ 35$ a pop) arrived by startrack express. Now I just have to install it after getting my new PSU :)
