Looks like they are trying to clear V2 out.

There was a targetted deal for Amazon AU users, to get a V2 dot free recently if you subscribe to Audible ($16.50). Mine arrives tomorrow.

    • So you subscribe to Audible (first month free) and get Echo Dot v2 free?

      • Only if you have been targeted:

Join Audible today and receive a free Echo Dot
Your Exclusive Invitation – For a limited time only!

By redemption, valid for black Echo Dot (2nd generation) only. Audible is $16.45/month. Renews automatically. Terms & Conditions apply

By completing your purchase, you agree to Audible's Conditions of Use and Privacy Notice.

        • So cancel after one month?

          • @isthisreallife22: yup, or after you redeem your first audiobook. It's pretty expensive imho, 1 book a month for 16.50.

            • @schwinn: I'm just going to cancel after the first month :) $16.50 for an Echo is pretty good, I have zero interest in the books :)

              • @MrGareth: Love it. Just joined audible, have already made my echo dot 2 order 10 seconds later. Nice one

I'll get my free book then cancel

                • @isthisreallife22: when trying to cancel they offered me another free book, so I accepted, ordered, then cancelled

I've had audible charging me after a free trial for a number of months once (and I never used it), so no guilt here

                  • @isthisreallife22:

I've had audible charging me after a free trial for a number of months once (and I never used it)

You could have easily gotten a refund by requesting for it via their online chat.

                    • @m9: This was about 5 years ago, before I was an ozbargainer :)

    • Gotta love deals that screw over existing loyal users.

      • Didn't get targetted? Maybe you didn't spend enough money on Amazon AU.

        • I already have Audible so not their target for it. Its same thing with like phone companies or Foxtel always giving good deals to new customers but not to their loyal existing customers.

          • @deelaroo: As a long term user, how do you find the cost/benefit? I was thinking 16.50 a month is a lot for 1 book!

            • @schwinn: It's only like $8/month currently for me. There was/is this deal you get first 3 months half price then your 6th month an extra credit:

              https://www.audible.com.au/promo/offer/1895

I get more value out of it than a movie so I think even at $16.45/month worth it.

Also you can usually get Audiobooks are fair bit cheaper if the Kindle book is on sale or cheap and adding the "Audible Narration" option. Lot of Audiobooks I've gotten for like $5ish this way.

        • I got the targeted email on a Amazon account i never use But i was told by Amazon support that if you are a Prime member (not a trial member) you will get the Dot even without the email.

Try the link and see if it says free Dot… https://www.amazon.com.au/ap/signin?server=%2Fap%2Fsignin%3F…

Negative for the device, not the offer.

      Mine arrived yesterday.

I now remember why I left Windows phones many years ago to get an iPhone, and later on an iPad, and finally a MacBook and a iMac. Things just WORK! Unlike this piece of rubbish that can’t even turn my LIFX lights on/off, although I’ve set it up properly. Don’t even try playing music on your Sonos with it. What a waste of my afternoon! I’m glad it didn’t cost me a thing.

I don’t really need an additional devise to control everything, as I can already do that with Siri on my phone. However, I can’t wait for Siri to play nice with Harmony and IFTTT.

Ps. I know Android fans will be rolling their eyes now 😂

Not sure what you're doing wrong. It works perfectly with my Lifx lights. You need to set up the groups and device names properly.
Also works well with Harmony although functionality is limited.
Don't know about Sonos but works perfectly with my Bluetooth speaker (I know I know different kettle of fish) for streaming Spotify. Annoying that it does not have Apt-x though.
If you're looking to sell, please PM me :-)

I agree, it really sucks. I have google play music and crome cast on my tv's and build into other devices. The Dot can not cast to any of my devices, wont play music from my google play account. Very disappointed so far.
