Spoken like a true technologically illiterate person. Compare all the specs and you'll figure out why….

FYI WD Blacks are basically the fastest 2TB consumer HDD out there ;) (Closest competition is the 1TB Samsung F3 Spinpoint)

      • By chance I randomly bought 2 of those samsungs the other day… They were just for data drives beside my SSD… Had no idea they were fast etc.

depends what you need…i mean if you can find some slow speed hdd and they will be ALOT cheaper as well.

just so i add…this is SATA3 not sata2 if you guys have old comp..dont think about it.Speed is doubled in 3 compare to 2.Theorically

Mechanical drives don't even saturate SATA2… Bar the upcomming generation of SSDs SATA3 makes no difference. (the Samsung F3s are comparable in speed yet are only SATA2…)

  • SIXTY EIGHT WATTTS? that's almost more than an idling computer uses.

  • The WD Black series do offer enhanced speed performance over the 2TB drives you're regularly seeing for under $100 now. These sub $100 "Green" drives spin at 5400RPM, use less power and run cooler. I have a 1TB WD Black and a 1TB Green and do notice a decided speed improvement with the black. However, I've moved my system partition to an OCZ SSD and this leaves the WD Blacks, Raptors and 15,000RPM SCSI drives for dead!

    • only marginally less power

    Their shipping prices are ridiculous.

  • This HDD is strongly recommended. I bought it to replace my WD Raptor 150gb, very happy with the choice.
p.s. 2TB Black is even faster than the 1TB version due to double size of the cache.

    • Only the odl 1Tb SATAII versions at the 32Mb the new 1Tb SATA3 Blacks have 64Mb I'm running 5 in raid

If it is NOT the cheapest on staticice can it really classify as a "bargain"?

Caviar Blacks are well worth the money if you cannot afford a SSD.
