          @rollingbran: Australia has its own certification requirements. CE certification does not prove it meets Australian requirements and there is a specific compliance mark required that shows Australian compliance has been met. The fact that the active and neutral pins on the Australian side of the adapter are not insulated along about half the length - suggest the product is not compliant and can not be sold in Australia.

    Yeah, it doesn't look like it has the regulatory compliance mark. They generally don't like this style since it allows you to half plug in an appliance, exposing a live pin.

  It’s an offence for a person to sell an article that has been declared under the Act as requiring certification if the article has not been approved for sale and marked with that approval.

  Fair Trading investigators visit suppliers at regular intervals to inspect electrical goods being sold and can take action to prosecute suppliers selling unapproved, unmarked or non-compliant declared electrical articles. The current maximum penalty under the Electricity (Consumer Safety) Act 2004 is $825,000 or 2 years imprisonment.
