    Free Polarising on Second Pair

Why not the First pair ??

    • Great question!

  • ~_~…i'd never pay that much ..maybe 1/5th?

They're free with most private health insurance.

      • Yer, thats because they cost about $10.

BigW optical are offering free polarized lenses on any frame.

Specsavers is like Chemist Warehouse, cheaper yes but only a little bit and not always the cheapest. Not a con but sounds like one.

    • You mean like Bunnings, Aldi, Officeworks, Amazon YMMV

  • What does "choose 2 styles from the $199 range" mean?

Is it two pairs for $199? Or $100 each of you buy two?

    • -1

I read it as buy 2 @ $199 ea ($398 total) and get 'free' polarizing.

Called and confirmed – two pairs of single vision prescription glasses (with polarising on the second) for $199 total. Agree that SpecSavers site could make this clearer though.

They always offer the two-for-one - the free polarising is the deal here. AFAIK a single pair from the $199 range would… still cost you $199.

Polarizing film costs about 10cents for a pair of glasses

If you buy a third pair of $199 glasses then they'll throw in a cleaning cloth for free.

Polarised lenses are composed like blind shutters, filtering out horizontal glare and isn't a coating. Not sure how much it costs to make though.
If you get a third pair of $199 you should be able to get that pair for 50% off.
Used to work there… Deals and health insurance stuff was confusing even to staff. They really need to simplify their wording/deals.

EDIT: Their wording is so bad! So you get two pairs + polarisation for $199, which is reduced by private healthcare extra's if you have them.

    • until you start ticking other option boxes (ie high refractive index lenses, bi-focals etc)

  • WAITING FOR THEIR CONTACT LENS OFFER~~

For the uninitiated what this deal means:

    1) pick two frames from the "2 for $199" range or higher (most people usually get 1x normal spectacle frame, 1x sunglasses frame)
    2) get free polarisation on one pair (sunglasses frame)

NOTE: "2 for $199 range" means two pairs of glasses with standard single vision lenses, if you pick frames from a higher tier they will also honour this offer

Disclaimer - I use Specsavers regularly, I do not work for them, or have any other association, it helps me make the most of my private health insurance, I have donated older/excess frames to them in the past as they have/did have a program where they recondition them and donate them to the less fortunate (I am not sure if they still have this program).

  • Went in last week and the salesperson gave me free polarising even though I only bought one pair. Spent the rest of my private health limit on getting the thinnest lens available.

  • My phone (xiaomi) doesn't work well with polarized sunglasses. Screen appears blank if I use it vertical :(

  • I just got my eyes tested and will buy my contact lenses from Specsavers but their frames are absolute cheap garbage so I'm going to OPSM
