They have posted the wrong product photo. Check the specs page provided by OP to see what the modules look like.

If anyone is interested, particularly if you are using an AMD Ryzen processor, I have these and was able to overclock them to 2400mhz without any sort of adjustment to voltage, timings, etc. I'd imagine its quite possible to overclock them higher, but I honestly haven't tried, and they are absolutely stable at 2400mhz currently.

    • I have a Ryzen 2600, did you notice any difference in performance when you overclocked?

      • -1

Upping memory speeds from the lowest to the highest speeds will make a difference of a few percent on general tasks/gaming. The only significant difference will be when you do memory throughput benchmarking (so you'll get the pretty graphs but no real difference)

        • +1

I find it makes a big difference in the Playstation 3 emulator.

          • @idonotknowwhy: That's interesting, that would be the first real world example I've heard of - how many FPS difference?

(Kind of proves the rule though - if this is the only place you'll see the difference, you're probably better off spending more on a better SSD/CPU/GPU)

            • +2

@enigma48: Infinity Fabric on Ryzen processors runs at the same clock as the memory bus. Thus, faster memory, faster overall performance between CCXs.

            • +1

              @enigma48: Yeah, that's the only real-world advantage I've encountered.

I see a higher minimum FPS of about 3-5 (from 22/23 -> 25+fps) and am able to maintain 30fps in more areas when playing AAA games in rpcs3, when going from 2400mhz (forgot the timings) -> 3200mhz (14-14-14-34) and this is very noticeable for me.

I also get about 5-10% higher FPS playing BOTW Cemu (the WiiU emulator) with an unlocked framerate but not worth mentioning because I tend to lock 30fps (to avoid physics bugs) which I could get with the slower ram anyway. So in this case; as you said, benchmarking.

As for real synthetic benchmarks, I got better multi-core performance in cinebench with every increment from 2133 -> 3200, and no difference going beyond that.

I would have agreed a few days ago as I was looking into memory for my stop-gap ryzen system; but then I saw this investigation…

          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsQAtsKX3mE&t=268s

Ended up buying some samsung b-die 3600 / CL16 RAM.

  • Damn I need some DDR3 ram for this price.

    • +1

I didnt even realise DDR3 was still being used. I opened up my 6 year old tower and found the 4x4GB sticks in there to still cost about $200 new. Not in stock, but thats the asking price on half a dozen sites - Whats the deal?

      • +2

Sold 4GB DDR3 a month ago for $20 (inc. postage). Like Rysta pointed out, some of the RAM modules are covered by lifetime warranty. New ones still cost a lot, but second hand ones can be have for reasonable price.

    • i assume you don't desperately need these. i've ordered some of these a few months back . there's finally an eta at least

Ddr3 is cheap secondhand and a lot of companies have lifetime warranties that they honour even without the receipt.

I have been looking for some cheap quad channel ddr3 for ages but it is extremely expensive. I have this kit already "G.Skill Ares F3-2133C11Q-16GAO 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3" but I still have 4 spare ram slots on my ASUS P9X79-LE motherboard that I would like to upgrade (or buy a 4x8gb kit if I can't get another 4x4gb).

        • Quad channel is pretty rare but they do pop up occasionally, might have to have a daily browse of Gumtree and just pray.

Wouldn't two identical dual channel sets work the same though?

          • @Rysta: You can actually mix and match memory but the speed is rated at the slowest module so 3x2400 and 1x1600 means all for will run at 1600. Also in general it's better to buy more ram than faster ram unless you have a great mobo and CPU as the CPU tends to bottleneck very fast ram although that's probably not an issue with ddr3.

  • Slow, but excellent price!

  • -2

    too cheap to be true

    • +5

Valid point . Strange why so many neg votes .

  • +1

    Doubt they'll fulfill

    • We will find out, I suppose.

    • +1

      Yup, someone f'd up

      Thank you for your purchase.

We are terribly sorry that we have a stock error for this item – We actually listed the items that we don’t have them in stock by mistake. Our apology!
When processing your order, we received email from warehouse, said they have run out stock for this item.
Would you like us to refund the full amount back to you so that you can shop around again?

We are really sorry for any inconvenience caused.
      Best Regards,

      Cedge_Computers

      • Wonder if we can just say no… :P

        • +1

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Can I just say "no thanks, i'll wait for stock to arrive"

          • @HowMuch4Cash: Asked for ETA, this is the response.

            "Thank you for your email.

We actually received the listing title from our supplier but there is not stock, and we thenaccidental listed them on eBay, so there is no ETA info available at this moment, and by eBay policy, we don't allow to keep your money if we don't have sold items.

Would you like me to refund your full amount please?

I am sorry for the trouble caused.

            Best regards,
            Waley"

I also wish to point out that they still have 5 units in stock, according to https://www.cedge.com.au/others/20618-new-gskill-f4-2133c15d…

            • @systema: Looks like they took that item down also. Thanks for trying

              • -2

@HowMuch4Cash: No worries. I just messaged them to inform them that "Under the Australian Consumer Law, businesses must not accept payment for products or services if:
                - they do not intend to supply them
                - they intend to supply materially different products or services
                - they know, or should have known, they would not be able to supply the products or services within the timeframe indicated or if no timeframe was provided, within a reasonable time."

They really need to step up their game next time.

                • +3

@systema: It was obviously a price error, be glad that they were quick about the error.

                  • @Bargain4Days: I suppose my point is that, if it is a pricing error, they should just say it is a pricing error. I would have gladly accepted that if that's the case. Having said that, if they claim that they don't have stock but actually do, that's a different story.

          • @HowMuch4Cash: Yea I said to the Cedge guy a week ago on a different product after recieving the exact same story about no stock 'I'll wait a week till you get more stock' noope, refunded me anyway. What is their angle, they are scamming someone, maybe Ebay.

      • No dude, I think this is a scam ey (perhaps scamming EBAY). I got the same thing the other day with Cedge computers, I ordered the Kraken x62 AIO, it was redic cheap (like $32 cheaper than PLE, the cheapest). He said the exact same shit and refunded me right away. I don't know what their angle is, but we need to report these scammers and time wasters.

    Who needs 32GB though?
Serious question, wondering why as it seems 16GB is sufficient most of the time. Future proofing yes. What else?

    Thanks

When you use Google Chrome with heaps of tabs.

      VM's

      • -2

Should consider the use of Docker container then

      • I’ve got 32GB of RAM and find the CPU is maxed out before the RAM when running multiple simultaneous VM’s.

    • +1

I fill 32GB easily when I'm building multi-HDR panos in Photoshop.
I've even filled an SSD scratch after the RAM was full. Not doing that again.

More and faster RAM is the best solution.

  • even 2100 speed is good for this price?
