      Check the hose from the tap to the reel is replaceable using a hose connector.

      I had a 20-30 year old Pope reel (guessing the age, it came with the house) crack and break apart, but in the 10 prior years, I'd replaced the hose many times because the dog chewed it in his puppy years.

      All new ones I inspected at bunnings now have a crimp fit hose, meaning the hose can't be replaced. If the hose breaks, throw the whole lot away. They are all rubbish, but I believe the manfacturers and especially bunnings do it on purpose for planned obsolescence.

      I had to throw a hissy fit at bunnings for the manager to refund the money because every hose reel there sucks.

      If anyone knows where to buy a hose reel with hose fittings, I need to know.

        If it is a 12mm hose, can't you just cut off the fitting at the crimp by cutting the hose then just buy a new fitting and put it on?

          No,

          First you'd need the plastic/nylon fitting which is unique per brand/product and unavailable,
          Then you'd need a mechanical or hydraulic hose crimper and they start at a few hundred for a decent one and go up to many thousands for a good one.

        Too true, they all breakdown.

        Imo the only brand i really trust now and they do come with a higher price is Retracta, they are found in so many workshops and warehouses you know they can withstand a hard life.

        They have a Garden/Domestic product now, Unsure if its the same product as the Air compressor hoses though.
