Nice, Cheap and Convenient Coffee Maker

Looking for a low-commitment way to make slightly decent coffee whilst away at my place I don't visit for more than a few weeks at a time, is getting something like this https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/lavazza-minu-caffe-latte-coffee… and buying some reusable coffee pods a decent idea to get a cheap machiene that makes OK coffees (Basically happy with anything that isn't instant).

Not an espresso drinker so need something for the milk. Any other cheaper ways to do this rather than buying a few hundred dollar heavy metal machine?

If you are happy with anything except instant, why not a french-press or pour-over etc?

    A lot easier.

    • Want it to be milk-based. I'm currently using a french-press which is leaving me with a desire for better :)

Aeropress + a $1.99 Milk Frother from Ikea is what i use

      • Is this method comparable to a typical Nespresso coffee?

        • Once you get the correct recipe for the aeropress it is.. IMO

Second the two suggestions above - not just because they're convenient, cheap and make decent coffee, but also because they're easy to clean which you should really do if you're leaving a coffee machine unused for an extended period of time. Even a pod machine is a bit of a chore to clean - I'd hate to have to clean an espresso machine basically every time I used it for a few weeks.

A stove-top espresso maker (Moka pot) and an Aldi milk frother will do the trick.

Stove top would be best, aeropress or plunger won't be strong enough to taste like real coffee after you add frothed milk. And like said above an electric espresso machine, whether pod or normal, will be a chore to clean for such little use.

If you want to take the next step and grind your own beans, then this DeLonghi is fantastic for the price.

    • Wooow that was a great deal, a hundred bucks - Wish I would have caught it. That looks unbelievable for ~$100… can't see it anywhere for remotely as cheap now unfortunately.
