Belong NBN (NBN50) Standard Plus $65/Per Month (12 Month Contract) Includes Free Modem & Free Mobile SIM with $80 Credit @Belong

170

I was looking for a new NBN provider and found this Plan which was the cheapest Unlimited NBN Standard Plus connection (NBN 50). It also Comes with a free mobile SIM card with $80 included credit (I couldn't find any expiry date, but there might be).

Some points
- $65 unlimited data nbn™ plan Standard Plus (NBN50) (Typical evening speed is 40mbps as per their CIS)
- Min cost over 12 months: $670 (After 1st month you can change to $55 Standard Plan, thus minimum is $670)
- Free Wi-Fi modem
- Free standard activation (If you need new NBN setup, you may have to pay $300. If you already have NBN connected activation is free)
- Free Belong Mobile SIM card with $80 Credit
- Doesn't include a home phone connection
- I was also told that, they starts charging from the 1st of the following month,so essentially you won't need to pay for the few days if you are connected before 1st of any month (better confirm with them, if this will be the case with you too)

Don't forget to add the referral codes from below random codes to get another $20 off 1st month.

Please read the CIS for further details
https://www.belong.com.au/content/dam/belong/downloads/CIS-B…

edit: There might have been some misunderstanding. Standard plus is in fact $65 per month (this was due to the mistakes from Whistle out website which has the starter plan listed as Standard Plus. Please advise if this needs to be marked as expired as I couldn't find a way to delete this post.

Can’t speak much About their nbn but their adsl2 really suck ass. Support hopeless

  • +4

I'm currently with Belong NBN Vic and I would NOT recommend it at all as

    1. slow on their standard internet speed
    2. drop connection without letting you know
    3. once you signed up with the contract, they will charge you extra to leave early
    4. customer service is not very helpful.

    Cheers

    • No.3 is common sense unless you go TIO to break contract

      • No.4 is also common for cheap/overseas providers. Iinet has become utterly rubbish.

    • on your points,

      1. This is standard plus, so must be better than standard, I receive around ~44mbps
      2. No drop off as yet
      3. This is with anything, if you break the contract their will be fees, unless there is reasons behind it and you go through TIO as advised by
        phunkydude below.
      4. Customer service during sign up was great in my experience. I needed the connection ASAP, they got me connected in less than an hour in the evening time ( I already had NBN setup connected. In same time Exetel couldn't connect me in a week.
  • Is there any good nbn providers?

    • I'm with Mungi in NSW. No complaints, very happy. They also do referrals if you're interested
      NBN50. average speed is 42 - 45 mbps. FTTP.

      • mungi is too exp. these days

might as well go abb at similar pricing

        • How do you reckon?

Mungi does NBN50 for 69.95, unlimited, no contract.
ABB does NBN50 for 79, unlimited, 24 month contract.

Are there deals that I'm missing?

          • +1

@kmish: ABB no contract unless you want free modem

            • @dcep: still more expensive though?

              • @kmish: yeah, notice i said similar pricing ? and not cheaper pricing ?

abb guarantee cvc with transparent reporting and stop taking new customers at 80% threshold

    • Aussie BB is highly recommended.

      • I'm currently with them and can't reccomend. Only thing they are good for is a faster connection during peak.

After being told paying extra is worth it I experience more drop outs than my previous provider on the same nbn wireless network.

Around midnight tonight I was strangely only getting 8mbps down when I'm suppose to be getting 25.

        Decent support though.

    • If you want top notch nbn without any restrictions on budget or consumer grade internet, check out future broadband.

No downtime in half a year nor have I had any maintenance outages during offpeak hrs.

You can do your research on it yourself, just putting the name out there.
And yes I find them more reliable than AussieBB as they don't rely on Telstra's infrastructure which randomly break every now and then.

      • Never heard of these guys, too bad about their deal breaker.

        • Plans are available on a 12 month contract.
        • All orders have a $129 activation fee.
        • Ya it was an answer to 'good nbn providers', not a bargain.

They did give out free setup offers and good bonuses for the first few sign ups etc but even then the pricepoint would still be on par with AussieBB and the competition, hence they're not gimping out on the "quality" whatsoever.

Oh and last night they started to offer a free modem with a 24month contact but still refuse to cut back on the setup fee lol.
They're legit not cheapening out on the service at all which is rare nowadays.

If you're interested on what they're doing and what the CEO's goal are etc, check them out here.

All you'll see are customers that want to complain but arn't given the opportunity to do so… Got a few critical and hard customers to please too.

  • Are you sure about the $120 discount?

$5/mth saving included for taking up a 12 month contract with Belong

That equals $60. The other $60 saving is for the WiFi modem that is FREE for 12 month contracts.

    • Please see the points that comes up when you signup. Looks like you will be paying $65 1st month, then $55 thereafter until end of 12 months. Thats how its $670 over 12 months.

      From belong site

      Your plan
Unlimited Broadband on the nbn on 12 month contract with Standard Plus speed plan

      What you'll pay
      $65 /mth
Min cost over 12 months: $670
      $55 monthly fee x 12 months
$5/mth saving included for taking up a 12 month contract with Belong
      $10 speed plan x 1 month
We'll send you a mobile SIM loaded with $80 free credit!

      • $90/mth
Min cost over 12 months: $695

I think the minimum cost refers to the least you will pay over the 12 months. Using your logic then you could have got 100/40 for an extra $25 for the year.

    • +1

Hi Steptoe, you might be right. The $120 discount they are referring to seems to be $5 x 12 month plus $60 modem. I have changed the title to reflect this. This misunderstanding of mine is due to whistle out listing Belong's starter plan ($55 NBN Plan) as Standard Plus connection.

      see the link
      https://www.whistleout.com.au/Broadband/Providers/Belong/NBN…

        👍

Still a comparatively good deal if you use the mobile service also, and the referral credits to yourself from joining a new SIM starter pack.

I thought most of the big companies are now the same once they are on NBN. Only difference would be service offered and less about lines breaking down after rain or heavy wind(as is happening to me during the winters on ADSL2).

Also when you guys are talking slow, are you on a higher level of expectation? Is the NBN actually slow? Like worse than my ADSL2 connection speeds or just slow by other first world country standards?

    • Heheheh

      google CVC bandwidth limit

      • It doesn't say much about speed…

I'm on Optus ADSL and getting 7 to 10 Mbps. Kind of expect an improvement on this speed when NBN comes around to Chadstone SC next year. All the complaints have made me feel as if there will be a speed downgrade…

        • don't worry it'll be faster than your adsl

but if your copper lines are shat and you're getting FTTN , then it'll be shitty

ppl complaining when they were getting 18mbps over adsl unlimited at $60 , but 'upgrading' to nbn $60 only give them 12mbps unlimited, so they have to pay more to get 50 mbps but when they pay more for 50 mbps , they only get 25mbps during peak times due to telecoms cheap out on cvc quota or fttn shit job

so do you rage if you paid more get less

          • @dcep: is HFC worse than FTTN? i read somewhere the HFC is the worst type but as you mentioned FTTN instead of HFC, does that mean FTTN is the worst? we're getting HFC in december if that helps. thanks!

            • @sigplay: you sure you're still getting hfc ?

i mean some areas changed to fttc after the hfc leaking fiasco, but only some unlucky ones will continue with 'upgraded' hfc rollout.

fttp > fttb > fttc > 'upgraded' hfc > fttn

              • @dcep: yeah just checked the nbn roll out for my address again via nbnco website. still says HFC and that "Build Commenced". at least it is an "upgraded HFC" now. still sh!tty though based on the levels. thanks for your help bud

    • Only difference would be service offered and less about lines breaking down after rain or heavy wind(as is happening to me during the winters on ADSL2).

Lol if only. It's still the same crappy copper that you have now, just a bit shorter (maybe..)

Is the NBN actually slow? Like worse than my ADSL2 connection speeds or just slow by other first world country standards?

How long is a piece of string? For me the NBN is a huge speed improvement (gone from 10-11Mbps ADSL2+ to a max sync of 130/55Mbps on FTTN). But my folks had 14Mbps ADSL2 and now get 17-18Mbps FTTN. Only real benefit for them is they're no longer paying the 'Telstra tax' being in the country. It all depends if you win node lotto or not, I did, my folks didn't.

      • I thought I had won the Node lotto, as they built a node 104m away from my driveway.
Unfortunately I got connected to a node 2000m away and after much troubleshooting and complaining (local member, RSP) I managed to 'suck it up' and enjoy my NBN speeds that were roughly equal to my ADSL2+ speeds.
My next option is to consider the 'Technology Choice' program, but the quote alone costs $500…

I’ve got the nbn through belong. Fast and stable for me. Download speeds sit at about 45mb/sec

    • +3

Not sure why you got down voted for sharing your experience. Have an up vote from me.

  • Tangerine NBN on FTTP is Very good. Fast and no drop-out.

  • +2

I got Belong when we first had NBN installed (FTTP, Footscray). Absolutely god awful. Slow, drop outs, unusable at peak times. Aussie BB have been great, though yes they are expensive. If I could find something almost as good for a bit less it would be great

  • Not the cheapest. check out EXETEL, $59.99pm unlimited 50/20 with a free modem

    • But in my experience, their customers service is horrible. Are you with Exetel? How long did you have to wait to get connected? Also what's their connection like?

  • Anyone know what is their starter plan speed? it says 30 Mbps download online? we have 30/10 plan instead of 25/10 now?

  • If you are with Optus Mobile, you'll get the similar deal with Optus
$65/month for contract no setup fee
or $65/month for month to month with setup fee

  • Having too many wifi modems

  • Signed up, Mungi refugee, thanks OP
