They've also got the 55" version for $1264 before postage.

I just bought the 55" from The Good Guys eBay for $1276 during their weekend 20% off promotion. I could have saved $12 by waiting a few days. TV ruined.

    • Price Protection or Credit Card Insurance?

      • +1

Are you serious? Name me some cards that gives you no hassle when you're trying to get back $12

        • Latitude (28degrees) will , its over the $10 mininum.

    • ok i finally bought it

godamn did not expend to spent $1800 at 2am

does it need a sound bar saw a few deals for yamaha/samsung soundbars at around $200, which are the good models?

now i gotta go to ikea and get a tv stand or a wall mount

      • Yes it needs a sound bar :-D I know not many believe in high end sound bars but that's what I'd recommend if you want the soundbar route instead of split system. I'd look into factory second models under $1000 (eg k950 for $900 at 2nds world). If that's too much look into the Yas 207, highly rated and often can be had for $320. I got both, yas207 is nothing compared to the k950.

Be aware the k950 is a pain in the ass to switch inputs outside of the Samsung app as you can't go directly to the input you want. I think this applies for any soundbar though.

        • What’s the issue with input?

Can you clarify the issue. Was thinking of getting it

          • @Owgasm: There's no button for direct input unless you go through the phone app so you have to cycle through, I use a harmony remote so not being able to select an input defeats the purpose. It relies heavily on CEC and CEC is unreliable at times when mixing brands so I'll be forever cycling between inputs. First world problems. Not a deal breaker though and I'd buy it again if I had to.

        • thanks but this is a netflix and youtube machine for the family and kids

no need for high end audio

may go down the cheaper soundbar route

      • Holy crap Appliances Online called to arrange delivery this morning

        Never experienced that before

free delivery and same day shipping. Vnice

  • Bought the 55" for $1264 I hope it's a good one, didn't plan to spend that much on tele,

  • Bought it for the last sale at Good Guys.
It's really a great TV especially for gaming.
In terms of a gaming TV I believe this does better than the x90f in relation to input lag etc.

4K content looks amazing on it.

To be a premium tv the brightness has the be over 1000 nits and in one review they tested it at 875 nits which is pretty close.

No issues with the sound as I've got a 5.1 system.

Plus the TV/stand etc really look nice.

  • Just had a play with one of these in HN (City Cross). I went in there looking to try it, the Sony X9000F and the Hisense P7. My USB stick (exFAT formatted) wouldn't work on the Hisense, so will need to go back again, but the colour palate on the Hisense already wasn't as good, as the other 2, and that's with the lush 4K demo content they were all pumping out.

I came away really liking the Samsung, which I seriously didn't expect to, especially given the reviews I've previously read about how amazing the Sony is.

Tested with some SD FTA (from Windows media center), F1 in mkv format(720p) and a full-blown 1080p Blu-Ray rip (also mkv). I felt the Samsung did a better job with the F1 than the Sony, in my opinion, and both looked great on the Blu-Ray front. SD FTA is…well, SD FTA but it looked passable.

p.s. The HN ticket price, for the 65" Samsung, was $2795, which makes this look like an absolute steal.

N.B. Both TVs were almost certainly in store demo mode (super bright etc.) and the demos were done on the 55" versions of both TVs although I did get the view the same content (4K Planet earth) on all TVs in the store.

  • postage is not free for me and I am in Sydney, $60 for me.
