Holy crap you can buy a real one for that.

    • +7

Agree. Just check out your local Corellian space junk yard about 6 light year away, there should be a few pre-loved Millenium Falcon for sale for not much more.

      • +4

I rather win it from a game of Sabacc.

      • -2

dont worry, lepin comments always get downvoted, so ill give you an upvote.

ive bought most of the lepin (lego) star wars ucs kits from aliexpress and they are excellent. no one will know, even upclose, that they are not genuine lego. the only way to tell is that the lego symbol isnt printed on each brick. no way im paying $1000 + for a lego set.

but i did see the genuine millenium falcon in store the other day, the box is massive.

        • +4

They're downvoted because it's like seeing genuine raybans for $30 and someone commenting "Here are some knockoffs from china for $5".

But I do agree that they're basically identical. There are some drawbacks with LEPIN however. People are often missing pieces. I missed roughly 30 from my 5000 piece falcon. But generally if you contact the store they'll send you the ones you're missing.

        • +1

I don’t understand the comment: No one will know… I mean I will know it’s not genuine LEGO - which is enough reason for me not to buy Lepin.

Sure this is an expensive set, it’s Star Wars, it’s iconic, it’s also the biggest set LEGO ever made - hence very desirable / collectable. No way I going down the fake Lepin path on a set this epic.

  • +3

What the actual "profanity" who would spend money on this it's nearly $1,000 Like WUT!?!???!

    • +1

nerds with no families and high disposable income. its also why the lepin kits are so popular, same thing, 10% of the price.

    • +2

They're purchased as "investments" - sure to go up in value once they stop getting cheaper…

  • +11

"Please note: Strictly one item per customer."…..well that rules me out. I was going to buy 50 of them.

    • U can get more then one if u no how to work the system

  • Epic deal for sci-fi fans again. Enjoy the assembly:D

  • +2

Took me about 6 hours to put together the lego X-Wing (best work farewell gift ever) and that has just over 700 pieces.

So if this one has 7500 pieces… almost 65 hours of fun?

    • +6

Which is coincidentally the estimated time to complete the main story in Red Dead Redemption 2 - which I bought yesterday for ~$45.

So from another perspective.. 65 hours of fun - $45 vs $975? :)

      • +2

        $975?
Money is the root of all evil. The more you get rid of it the happier you are:)

        • So where is that OzBargain deal on Lamborghini Aventador again?

    • I timesheeted my build and it took me and my partner 27hours. We're not the fastest lego builders so pro's might halve that.

I didn't find this kit very fun at all, its pretty repetitive building the legs, the panels on it and also all that space junk on the outside of the ship is what takes most the time, and part count. :/

    • You must have been inebriated from the leaving do; I put together the Bugatti in ~10hrs while listening to it's podcast.

  • This is a very good price for it.

    • +1

      Yeah, nah…

    • +4

Then when you try to resell your Chinese blocks , you will realise the” slightly better quality” option was probably a better idea.

Counterfeit goods and stolen intellectual property are never a bargain, just straight up thievery.

      • -2

It isn't theft if no one loses anything tangible.

That's why you don't get charged with larceny if you create counterfeit items.

        • -1

Possibly the most ridiculous thing I have read this year.

    • +3

Mentioning Lepin around here = guaranteed downvotes.

Head over to r/Lepin on Reddit.

  • +1

That's a huge discount on a very popular set for the avid collector. Purchased a short while ago and it's already posted.

Just have to convince the misses it's an early Christmas present.

  • -1

Damn, what. A price and it doesn't even come assembled!!

  • Buy it and sell it in a couple of years for hundreds of dollars profit. It's an investment. You can probably even build it and still get a good profit on it in the future.

  • -1

so has anyone from ozbargain actually spent this amount of money and purchased the kit, or are we all just window shopping.

    • I got 4 in the dj deal I never widow shop when it was that cheep

      • +2

        widow shop

Some sort of dating technique I'm not yet aware of?

  • thanks just bought it.
Been wanting to get it for ages but the RRP 1299 price tag was just too much especially after missing the DJs sale.

    • have you figured out where you are going to display it. the thing is massive.

      • thats what she said

  • Ahhhh if only this deal came up a bit later on in the year when I had $$$

    • $$$ is not enough - you need at least 375x that many!!

  • I remember back in the day when I got lego with my Maccas happy meal. Early 80's I think. I just gave my little guy his first star wars lego set.

    • Back when Happy Meals were worth a damn and choking hazards weren't a thing!

  • damn I missed it!!!!!!!!!

  • are you guys serious

    • +1

I am serious, and don't call me Shirley.

      • Thought about it, but Budju's comment didn't set up for the reply properly so I didn't want the line come across as half strength.

        • +1

i fully expected no one to get the reference, im not sure if its 'well known'

          • @DiscoJango: I've never seen the movie, but most certainly know the reference. Legendary.
