Is It Okay to Buy a Refurbished Notebook from Dell Factory Outlet?

Have you folks had the experience in purchasing stuff from Dell Factory Outlet? Any good or bad feedback?

I was just in contact with the chat person, so return policy is 15 days and it's 1 year warranty.

Is there anything else I should be aware of? Any catch perhaps?

So seems like the answer: it is okay to buy from Dell Factory Outlet.

Only real 'catch' is that your statutory rights under the ACL would be less for a refurb unit than if you were buying brand new (refurb'd units bought for cheaper can't reasonably be expected to perform as well as new units). Other than that, Dell has good support and that applies to their factory outlet too, including for refurb units.

I haven't heard too many stories of people being dissatisfied with Dell Support (actually I can't remember even one case where the person has a legitimate gripe) so I don't think the above is even all that relevant.

    • Good to know; thanks for the input.

  • I've purchased three notebooks at separate times from the Dell Outlet, and they've all been fine.

The only hassle really is that if what you've chosen is a great deal, you might miss out on it because of the time it takes to make the purchase.

  • I can't seem to open the listings on the website.. Is it just me?

    • No, their website has been sporked for a week or two. Can't advance a page, can't apply filters, can't sort by criteria. Some people don't even get the base listings displayed.

  • Is the price negotiable in DFO?
