    Chinese shit??

      Isn’t everything these days? :(

There's a difference between a recognised brand's product made in China and a re-labelled Chinese made product.

        • +2

So the made in China part is irrelevant then.

  • 56DB, that is the noise level of my laptop when gaming.

I guess it quiet by comparison, else they wouldnt advertise it.

  • I can't find a review on these, looks like a new model for Stirling (old ones were smaller 3.8kW). Can anyone comment on Stirling split systems in general?

      Had the previous 3.3w one
Very powerfull for a 3.3kw bigger in size compare to other brands with same power.
But is very powerfull n cold.
The fan was double strength more powerfull thrn my LG n PANASONIC system. Good for small living room
      Havnt had a problem yet..
      cost $550 when bought onsale
      And $60 for pipe
Self installed with hire vacuum pump on gumtree($20 day)

  • Energy rating out of 6 stars
    Cooling 2 stars
    Heating 2.5 stars

    • I agree, it hasn't got a good energy rating at all…

Cheap to buy, expensive to run.

      • systems at 5kw or higher have pretty much similar energy rating anyway. The only issue is performance reliability.

        • So if money was no object, it would be more efficient to heat a large room with 2x 2.5kw side by side rather than 1x 5kw?

  • What's a good split system other than this?

The problem with something like this is that you're spending another $6-700 to install it, you can't exactly just take it back to aldi if you think it's not great (reminds me I have some stuff to return).

Cheap things that you can take back easy - go nuts on it. Something that has to be installed you probably want to think about a bit harder.

For brands… Pana/MHI/Fujitsu etc. Watch for ebay TGG 20% off deals. Just got a fujitsu 2.5Kw for ~$695, yet to install tho.

    • I agree…if you're going to have to spend $700-800 to install, best to choose a quality unit

  • Anyone knows reasonable technician ac in melbourne west with good service and how much to install 5kw system ?

  • what is a good price for installation assuming we purchase a unit
most of the ads I've seen in the local paper, talk about price with installation

eg mitsubishi 3.5 kw unit $1700 installed, which would make installation $700
    is that excessive?
