I live with the misguided hope that one day there will be a prize just for enrolling in all these courses.

It's my never-ending game of Udemy Bingo.

always preferred those old 'you suck at photoshop' tutorials on youtube.

Always loved the ways they bring the problems going on in their life into the clips https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_X5uR7VC4M

  • PS 2019 brings some changes that bring Photoshop in line with every other app and make it much more intuitive. Especially the way undo works. But it's going to kill those who long term users who have developed habits. And those that have to swap between 2019 and earlier are going to slowly go mad.

    • So for beginners, does it mean we are better off to learn the PS2019 and forget about this free course which is 2018 ?

      • +1

Most of the content will be the same. There are some new and improved features and some changes. If you have access to 2019, use it and adapt the lessons from this course or any other than refers to 2018. Don't look for road blocks. Look for ways forward.

    • Lots of people waiting for CC 2019 to be cracked (the newer version of Photoshop is supposed to be better at Content aware functions eg removing a watermark from a wallpaper image you downloaded).

Older versions of Creative Cloud were easy for people to "steal", there was even an AIO tool that would download all the data (you could choose which versions you wanted), install it and then apply the 'medicine'.

Not everyone can afford Adobe subscription prices, and Adobe has an effective monopoly on raster and vector editing programs, and little competition for pure audio editors. There are no 'Ozbargain specials' on Adobe products.

I don't like Adobe's subscription model, but we should not be aiding piracy on Ozbargain. Then again why am I surprised when we have a whole discussion topic on running down rude people who hold parking spots.

Adobe does not have an effective monopoly. There are free tools out there, and there are paid non-subscription alternatives. We're starting to see real competition against Lightroom. Adobe's have a long history of being a pseudo standard and are very capable and cross platform. If you learn them chances are very good they'll still be around in a few years. That is why people refer to a monopoly.

        • Thanks for the reply.
I think I'll still enroll in this as it is free and I am always interested to learn how Photoshop works. Always want to build a website myself and have no knowledge of how, I suppose learning this is a first step.

          • @sistermay: If it's website development you're after you should learn some HTML. Plenty of free courses on that too.
