POTPLANT

My pressure washer blew a gasket last week and I have no time to repair it, so I've had one of these sitting in my cart waiting for a 10% site wide eBay code. Then "Tight Arse" posted the "POTPLANT" code so I grabbed one and thought I'd share.

DETAILS
Jet-USA have been in the business for years and know what really matters when you use pressure washers on a daily basis. With that in mind, it should come as no surprise that the Jet-USA CX630 Commercial Series packs a thumping 8-horsepower engine! But that doesn't make it a loudmouth - thanks to powerful four-stroke OHV technology, it's as quiet as it is fuel-efficient.

The CX630 also makes light work of cleaning cars, boats, house siding, deck rejuvenation and countless other applications. The exclusive adjustable soap discharge dial allows you to select the amount of detergent used from the large tank to suit the job at hand. There are five included Pro-tip nozzles, all built to endure intensive spray pressure for years. Simply switch to the appropriate nozzle to go from light cleaning to stripping those hard to clean footpaths and paved areas.

With oversized wheels the Jet-USA allows you to easily work your way around tough terrain. A handy quick start guide on the unit allows anyone to get it up and running with ease - Set up fast - clean up fast!

Looks pretty good. 4800 psi though… be careful with that. Google high pressure injection injuries for some context

    • however its says the pressure 3000 PSI. Not show how you would get it to 4800 PSI

      • +1

3000 psi continuous, 4800 psi max.

        • Yes i read that, but how do i select to use 4800 PSI?

        • I suspect the pump is rated to 4800 PSI, but with the given flow it can only do 3000 PSI with the supplied nozzles. The only way it could do more pressure is with more flow, so may be there is a button to make the engine run at a higher Rev?

          • +2

@jackwoz: you can probably do it with different nozzles with a smaller outlet

          • @jackwoz: It's the way around. Max head (equivalent to pressure) should be at minimum flow. Look at Axial flow pump characteristic curve.

              • +1

@jackwoz: Sorry, I forgot to say other way around.

Pumps add energy to a fluid. Basically, most pumps should have their highest pressure at the lowest flow rate from the discharge outlet. As flow rate increases, friction and other losses increase and the pressure drops. The pump characteristic curves (head vs flowrate) show this.

One of my textbooks has this equation for an ideal pump (no energy losses from friction etc):
                pump power (pf)
                mass flowrate (m*)
                pump head (H)

                pf=m*H

                • @01robbie: Maybe, but given a fixed orifice size (nozzle) pressure will increase with flow. Im assuming you are referring large fluid transfer pump but this one is probably a triplex pump.

      • just going off the title.

    • I just did. Grose.

Dont buy it or if you do buy use it properly!!

i suggest you visit the whirlpool forums for extensive feedback on agr machinery / edisons

Be careful with Edisons, it seems they're a rebrand of another operator called 'AGR Machinery'.
They have such a bad reputation that the second suggested google search for 'AGR Machinery' is 'AGR Machinery fair trading'.

They've left a wide trail of tears in their path:
      https://www.productreview.com.au/p/agr-machinery.html
      https://www.productreview.com.au/p/mytopia.html?rating=1#rev…

AGR Machinery, Edison, Mytopia, and Mills Trading are all part of the same group, it seems.

In my opinion, their go-to is selling own-branded products with prices and specs that are just on this side of "too good to be true". It's next to impossible to find a professional review of any of their products (eg portable aircon, portable generator, pressure washers) to confirm their specs, despite them being such great deals.

    • Wow - If I had known about this I would not have purchased my JetUSA electric pressure washer….that said mine has been fantastic and I cannot fault it.

Half the price of name brands and it seems to be of decent quality.

    • Ouch. I just bought a 3100psi for$95 from them last week 🤔🤨😑🤤. Haven't received it yet but fingers crossed.

  • do you need something this professional for regular home use, on driveway etc?

    • No, even a Karcher from bunnings is for most tasks to strong. When i get to close with my Karcher to the driveway it wipes the paint off.

  • Brought one of those 2 years ago, used it twice and sit in shed for a year, now it struggle to start, once running engine stopped when chock off. Not sure why it does this.

    • Performed any maintenance on it? Like with a car your service intervals are usage OR time. Change the oil, clean the spark plug, clean the air filter etc then see how it goes.

      • Yes, googled some recommendation, even taken out the carburetor and clean all fuel in the system, changed spark plug etc. My 5 year old mover would start at few pull if sit half year or so.

  • Wondered why the name ‘Edisons’ stuck in my mind.
Formerly EGR Machinery… do a little research.

    • It's called AGR Machinery.

  • Ah. Perfect modification to my bidet.

    • Nothing like a bidet that can also clean your teeth at the same time.

      • Toothy buttocks? I'm picturing some sort of lamprey.

        • It's what happens when you swallow your baby teeth when they fall out.

  • I've been thinking about upgrading my ancient electric pressure washer that was like a 30 dollar special at auction - that leakes water everywhere, but don't think id need somthing like this for the occasional car/driveway that I wash maybe a couple of times a year… Is it overkill, should I stick with the convenience of an electronic? Or would this be all good?

The company is dodgy, don't bother with this deal.
For your average home job, something from Bunnings is fine. (Plus their returns policy is great.)

  • Back in 2012 my wife gave me a Stihl RE108 electric pressure washer. Now 6 years later its still going strong, I am glad she bought this for me and it has done countless jobs around the house. The only downside has been that on a couple of very hot days it has stopped working after about 30 minutes but give it a rest and it works fine again. For what its worth I also have a Stihl chainsaw and a line trimmer and have found their service and parts workshops very good. Hope this info helps someone.

  • Received mine yesterday and just tested today. This thing is a beast compared to the Supercheap auto one that just died out if warranty.
