    They use a 737-800 from ADL - NAN (5hr flight) but no seat back entertainment (just like Virgin Domestic) and then either A330-200 or A330-300 from NAN - LAX (10.5hrs) and this flight has full seat back entertainment included

    Service is very nice and staff friendly :)

  Be warned, Fiji Airways aircraft are severely outdated and show lots of wear. 5-hours return from Fiji was the most bland flight I've ever experienced, the seats are warn and torn, there is no real entertainment besides a 7" screen under the luggage storage every 3-4 isles, I personally wouldn't want to be stuck on a 9 hour flight on their aircraft.

  Pay a little more and get something with a bit more comfort, nicer seats and on-demand entertainment if you don't wish to log around an iPad / Laptop

    This is not true at all. The 737's used from Melb to Nadi and they are much better then Virgin or Jetstar - FULL Service as well with drinks and no torn seats. I have also not seen many 737's with screens on the back of seats.
    The Nadi to LAX or Hong Kong routes have modern A330 - 300 aircrafts. These are very nice and again great Fijian hospitality (ask Meghan and Harry - there in Fiji right now and awed with the hospitality :-) You can pay extra for legroom too.
    The A330's are economically more viable due to Fiji's closer proximity to US mainland. One can also spend a night or 2 in a decent hotel closer to Nadi Airport and venture out in a cab (F$20) to Denarau Island where all the action is.

      You seem to be exaggerating a bit. I have quoted my experience, each to their own but for you to tell me that is not true at all, you weren't there… You can now talk for 300+ people on one plane now can you? Jesus christ…
