Dammit - waited and waited and then placed a large order Monday.

And still shipped and sitting in Tasmania since Tuesday.

    • Just ordered a week back too!
Found shipping is a bit inconsistent.
Last order was on a Sunday night and got it on the Tuesday in Brisbane.
One before that I ordered on a Thursday from memory and got it the following Thursday. :/
      Love the products thou!

I'm holding out for their 100th birthday.

        • +1

You'll need more than just protein by then mate lol

    • My last two orders were delivered the next day to Sydney.

      • If the order is under 3kgs they send it express post otherwise it's just regular e-parcel.

    • Public holiday in Hobart on Thursday

    • -1

Literally me every time. (except this time)

  • +2

    Cheers, perfect timing!

  • Done of a bi… just placed an order yesterday!

  • just in time for 20kg WPC annual stock up, cheers!

    • How do you manage the bag? Do you fill a rigid container with it?

      • Comes in 1KG bags ;)

        • -1

Oh, I just checked. That's a lot more expensive than a 20 kg bag from a supplier.

          • -1

@Scrooge McDuck: I just updated my price knowledge on this. BN pricing isn't too bad.

But back in the good old days you could buy a 20 kg bag of WPC for $200–250.

            • @Scrooge McDuck: I remember those days, I used to get the fonterra 20kg bags for 250$!

      • not sure what do you mean, mate, it comes in 1kg bags iirc…

        • It's not uncommon for serious tight arse bodybuilders to buy a 20 kg bag. Some retailers sell them to customers untouched from the supplier. The suppliers generally only sell pallets of 20 kg bags.

  • +1

    Wow! just ordered last week

  • I live in south east suburbs of Melbourne. Does anyone wants to buy 20kg and split? PM me. Thanks.

    • Are you splitting the discount too? That will mean you only get 5% off.

      • +13

        That's not how maths works.

        • +1

It does when you haven't eaten all day. Eaten now. Maths resuming as normal :)

  • What flavours taste best for their WPC?

    • +1

      Choc, Choc honeycomb

      • salted caramel was good. Didn't like rocky road.

        • +1

Never had salted caramel, but as a sweet tooth I can confirm choc and choc honeycomb are good

          • @lanjiao: it is sweet enough, I'd say the whole range is pretty sweet and good to deal with sugar cravings, being a sugar tooth myself. Rocky road was way too sweet for my liking.

            • @yoba: Awesome, I'll check that out next time

        • Alright thanks, guess I'll try those. Don't think rocky road is available anymore though.

    • The reworked Choc Mint tastes pretty good too.

    • I like salted caramel and vanilla. Only flavour I didn't like was chocolate.

    • My faves are strawberry/banana.

  • +1

Oh great they changed the website again so it's harder to use.

    • +3

That's what you get for voting Liberal or Labor!!

      • +3

Vote for the Greens you will get a high protein tax ;)

  • +1

i cant even find out where to put the code??? website comes up like a mobile site now … wtf..

edit.. found it .. before the checkout… scroll right to the bottom of the order list … what a frikin stupid website design, it was easier before.

good deal, bn is still ok quality, and they never do discount codes no more so have to jump on it.

    • +2

Pretty simple really, choose your flavour and qty > add to cart. Repeat as necessary. Go to checkout and where it says coupon code put in the code. Pay. Done. Delivered.

      Not rocket science.

      • -1

No other store I've used makes you put in the coupon in the cart… So i would assume you would put it in during the checkout

        • +3

Plenty of stores do this as far as my experience goes..

  • +5

Good deal but I can't vouch for BN anymore. They used to be great but then went downhill in quality and taste recently after they started sourcing their whey from overseas.

Now using VPA who source theirs locally which makes a huge difference to the taste & quality. We have some of the best milk products in the world so why not use it for protein?

    • How long ago did they make the switch do you know? Haven't used BN protein for months and i'm on the fence on putting in an order. Right now i'm juggling between some branded protein (on sale of course) and MyProtein.

      • +1

Switch was made about 2/3 months ago, there was a bit of backlash but their Protein Matrix (I ordered beginning of this year) was always a mix. The only Aussie one is Natural Whey Protein Concentrate which is what I order/use. Mixability is decent with the agitator, the quality seems ok but would recommend getting the chocolate flavour > salted caramel (the salted caramel has next to no flavour tbh :( . Vanilla is vanilla which is always good.

    • I've been using them few a few years, I haven't noticed any change?? I'll take a look at VPA.

    • Their site is down at the moment. How does the value compare?

      • BN looks to be cheaper in general. BN WPC $25 vs VPA WPC $29 (though BN's natural Australian WPC is also $29), BN WPI $36 vs VPA WPI $38

    • +7

I agree with you completely. I don't think I will buying from them anymore as they have slowly started changing all their whey proteins to USA sourced whey. We do have the best dairy products on the planet.

I didn't know they were that profit driven to source cheaper whey for the sake of a little extra profit. As a company, I would much rather keep Australian producers in business than spend my money overseas. Very poor ethical business decision, however I suspect most customers won't know or never look into where the raw materials come from.

I have ordered from them a few times just to try out there they proteins, most are way too sweet and many contain not enough flavour, purchased vanilla protein matrix and it just tastes sweet. There is almost zero vanilla flavour to the protein.

      • They said in a blog that the new WPC they source is cheaper and tastes better. I'm still on their old WPC so I can't confirm if this is true. I don't really have a problem with them sourcing their WPC from the USA if it saves me 10%.

      • +2

I've used their WPI for years and previously it came from NZ (which I'd argue - IMO, of course - has better dairy products than Oz, sorry). Then they changed to sourcing it from the US. I can't tell the difference and neither can my stomach - bloats up on everything other brand of WPI I've ever tried over the past 20+ years. That's why I stick with BN. But note - that's WPI and not WPC (I wouldn't even go there due to bit of an issue with dairy).

Edit: Actually I take it back, I was great with an organic (or possibly just grass-fed, free-range - sorry I forget) protein powder I bought in NZ (and made in NZ), back in July - but was a LOT more expensive (I forgot to take some BN WPI over with me).

      • Sounds about right. Real vanilla is getting much harder to source.

    • Is VPA recommended? Nice flavours?

      • Definitely. 100% Australian made and they have some very nice flavours. Strawberry literally tastes like a milkshake. Vanilla is great too. Their chocolate is ok but I'm usually not a chocolate person.

    • +1

I had the same issue when I found out they were changing their protein, if you want 100% Australian (which is what I prefer as well), look up their Natural Whey Protein Concentrate/Isolate. I ordered the WPC and the label says 99% Australian Ingredients, supposedly it's Whey from a Bega Farm but it does cost a bit more but it's a price I'm willing to pay for an ingredient I can trust more. How is VPA in terms of mixability/taste??

      • Huh? this is what it says in their Natural Whey Protein: "We are now using an Irish sourced cold filtered Whey Protein Isolate"

        • +1

God dam they must have changed it again since i last spoke to them, sorry about that, the Natural Whey Protein Concentrate on their website says this:

Naturally rich in branched chain and essential amino acids (BCAAs and EAAs), it’s delicious and derived via ultra filtration, from the milk of Australian grass fed and hormone free cows.

          Natural Health consumers
Our raw Whey Protein Concentrate is simply 100% pure, ultra filtered Whey Protein Concentrate from an Australian manufacturer.

          • +2

@zoidee: So, the Natural WPC is Australian and the Natural WPI is Irish.

            • @Colombian: Yup, sorry just checked the FB Message they sent me from a while back and it was just WPC, not WPI. Regarding the Natural WPC they said "Our WPC is currently sourced from Warrnambool Cheese and Butter in Australia "

  • +2

Awesome, their zero-carb electrolyte blend is great.

    • +1

I've just discovered this. Finally some zero-carb electrolytes with a really good potassium:sodium ratio! I've been using High5 ZERO, which are 70mg Potassium to 250mg Sodium.

BN electrolyte blend is 120mg Potassium to 60mg Sodium. 2:1! that's awesome.

  • 5.80/kg for dextrose, wow.

  • I'm Looking for grass fed isolates, lactose free?

  • +3

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Placed a $250 order last night. Was checking on ozbargain for a month before I pulled the pin.

    • +3

Thank you for your sacrifice to make this happen

    • +1

same… ordered something the other night too :(

  • +1

I'm a long term user of BN. I believe their products have lost consistency. I drink WPC and Casein powder mostly and I find at times that some bags don't taste the same. The last bag of WPC chocolate I bought from them was awful, it made a thick foam after shaking it with water.

  • What's better, their WPC or Protein Matrix for best price/performance?

    • +1

WPC is best price per KG of protein content

      WPC WPI
      % Protein 77 88.5
      Protein KG/5KG 3.85 4.425
      $ 5KG $90.00 $149.00
      $/Kg Protein $23.38 $33.67
      10% Off ($/kg P.) $21.04 $30.31
  • Thanks. Purchased. Gains!

  • iherb, venom, BN or myprotein?

last order I got was 2016 and have 2kg left so starting to research

  • +2

Quite disappointed with BN, they changed something in their protein recently i think. Every time I have their protein my head spins and i feel like throwing up. Having WPI and WPC from them since last 3-4 years never had these issue before.

    • That sucks to hear. I have been feeling that with the optimum nutrition WPI that i have. Finishing it up with overnight oats atm and just ordered to try this out. Hopefully I dont get the same problem

    • Is it their new WPC?

The old formula with Aussie cows is Natural WPC.

      New WPC is from merica.

      • Yeah i think its new one. Never had any issues with previous ones.
I sent an email asking them whats happening, never got a reply back. Earlier i would always get a response back from them within 24 to 48 hours.

  • Any suggestions from their pre workout powders?

    • +3

      Shot of coffee.

    • I use their Pre Workout 101.

  • Would the WPI or WPC be more ideal as a meal replacement? Don't hit the gym, just want to keep my diet somewhat consistent.

    • +2

Neither, but if you have to choose, i'd say the WPC, since its much cheaper and has more carbs/fats.

  • Is BN the company that tests their own protein regularly for purity?

I got burned badly by nobull supplements years ago and haven't bothered with WPI since.

  • Wow, the promo ended already!!!
