Damn. I just bought this morning for 3.90. Grrrr

Also, Activate your service by: 30 Nov 2018 (11.59:59pm AEDT)

  • Does anyone know if this is for new customers only as I’m already a Kogan customer but my 365 day plan will finish up in December.

    • People were stating that it works, search older threads.

      • Interesting. It does say New Customers Only, and not for use with existing services. But if it works, cool.

        • +1

I can confirm new service works 100% I used about 8 of them already, using it for data as I do not have Nbn. (I have 2x 365 plans)

On the existing service as far as I remember it works BUT IT DOES NOT EXTEND your current time. It how to say it, overwrites it, that’s what people were posting.
So if you have 2 months left on your plan and you use this voucher it will not extend, it will overwrite and you will actually lose the old plan.

          • @[Deactivated]: So does this mean I can use it on my existing plan-less Kogan no.? The plan for that one expired a week ago.

            • +1

@UnderWaterLlama: I did not try myself so can’t confirm 100% but I remember people posting in older threads that yes it works.

              • +3

@[Deactivated]: Just bought one and tried, doesn't work. Take note others: guaranteed does not work for existing Kogan customers, even if your number is without a plan. It shows as an invalid voucher after keying in the code.

Sigh, there goes my $1.95, free cash for Groupon and Kogan :(

                • @UnderWaterLlama: In that case may I have the voucher? You can send me the code in my private message if you want.

                • @UnderWaterLlama: Try and offload it on classifieds:)

                • @UnderWaterLlama: Why not just wait for the sim to ship and set it up as a new number and use the data.

                • @UnderWaterLlama: Same here. Bought one, can't get through registration because of this invalid voucher issue.
Logged a support case to Kogan, @Kogan asked me to check with @Groupon.
Logged a support case to Groupon, Groupon told me the voucher has been activated (but I have not!!!) and told me to check with Kogan.

Merry-go-round~ too tired to go through all these nonsense for $1.95. Ended up just paid another $3.95 full price for the same thing.

                • @UnderWaterLlama: Same here. Bought two, none worked. I used Kogan mobile a few times before and this never happened. I logged a ticket with Groupon, see what they say.

Edit: My bad. It does not work when you port-in your number, only for new numbers.

                  • @notoriousft: It works when you port your number over as long as you haven't used that number on the Kogan network within the last 30 days.

          • @[Deactivated]: Hi Salian, do you use the same form of ID to activate each time? and do they still think you're a new customer after you've given them your license already? I've activated Kogan once and it's just expired, and wondering if I can buy again. Thanks

            • +1

@jussie2000: Yes every time same document and same details.

            • @jussie2000: P.S. - I have ported out of and then back to Kogan several times without a problem. The only catch is you need to be out of the Kogan network for a minimum 30 days in order to be considered a new customer, else you won't be able to use the voucher.

  • +1

I am confused. You must activate the voucher by 10/11, but you can activate the sim within 365 days. Is that mean I can activate the sim with the voucher in Feb?

    • +3

Yeah I was wondering about this as well. I think it means that the sim that you physically receive by mail you can use after that date. But voucher is valid for activation only until the 10th.

    • +3

When you buy this, they send you a voucher. That voucher must be redeemed at kogan.com by the 11th. Then kogan will send you a sim, and that sim will have its own activation deadline

      • +1

I think the voucher, not the sim, has its own activation deadline

      • +1

This voucher must be redeemed by 30 NOV not the 11th, you're thinking of the previous deal …

      • They don't send a voucher, my SIM just arrived and I have a voucher from Groupon too. Didn't have to activate anything so far.

So, which one to activate and when is the question.

  • How does this work? I have both Shopback and Groupon apps installed on my mobile. When I click on the deal banner in Shopback it opens Groupon app. Is this jump between mobile apps really tracked?

    • +1

Yeah works every time for me

      • Thanks, can you pm me your shopback referral? - trying to make some friendship here! :)

    • I always have an AdBlock on (but in browser) so in my case probably not.

  • Hello Guzman, Hey You….

  • Is it a new sim or I need to port the number from other vendors
I'm thinking of buying one for my friend who is visiting Australia

    • It's a new sim

  • How do i go about buying 6 of this sims? Do i need to make separate group on accounts?

    • +3

How about you try that and let us know

    • It's limit 2 per customer, so just make a few different accounts.

  • +1

Wait a few days and this will be 49 cents or even free

    • Lol. Thats what they did last time. So I decided to wait and see this time. 🤣

  • -1

    $1.95 every 30 days with 32GB every 30 days?

This seems too good to be true…

Is it an ongoing charge or a 1 month only thing?

    • It's only for 1 month.

      • Yeah that’s no good

        • +3

it's good for someone temporarily visiting oz

          • @baxo: Good point didn’t think of that

  • +1

Code only works for 1…..so buying 2 total came to $5.85.
    Still a good deal.
Needed a couple for Ipad Xmas presents.
    Cheers OP.

    • it is working if you buy them separately.

    • Just in case you missed it

Activate your service by: 30 Nov 2018 (11.59:59pm AEDT)

      • Yes thanks.
Plan is to activate service before 30 Nov 2018 and then activate SIM Xmas eve.

But I dunno how to do that to be honest…..dunno how to activate service only.
Looking at the link, first thing it asks for is the SIM card number https://accounts.koganmobile.com.au/activation (which is coming in mail)

        • Groupon have cocked up. Just spoke to Kogan.
Activating your service and activating SIM is done at same time (before 30 Nov).
Kogan did offer 1 week extension though.

          Statement below is incorrect…

Your service must be activated by 30 Nov 2018. The SIM card itself is able to be activated after that date. However, it must be activated within 365 days of purchase.

Spent too long on this already…

          • @whorishmouth: No one has cocked up you just confused yourself.
How the hell were you going to activate your service and sim at different times you need a sim card to activate the plan/service.

You got confused cause the sim card has a different 'expiry date' (if any). The REDEMPTION CODE however like you said expires on 30th Nov.

I know this cause I have a few spare Kogan sims lying around that I use to activate the REDEMPTION CODE ASAP so I don't wait for the SIM to come in the mail.

Statement is technically not incorrect. Sim can be activated after the date obviously you won't be able to use the redemption code.

            • @KBZ: Lol dunno - been post paid my whole life. Total newb here.

I read the statement "Your service must be activated by 30 Nov 2018. The SIM card itself is able to be activated after that date. However, it must be activated within 365 days of purchase" and thought I could buy now, activate & use later (Xmas time).

            • +1

              @KBZ: I get it now….my bad.

Service is the offer (30-Day 32GB, activate before 30 Nov)

The SIM card is the hardware/phone number (must be activated within 365 days). It can be used in this deal, can be used in another deal, can also be recharged at a later date etc etc.

              Thanks.

  • I don't have a groupon account. Do I get anything if I use a friend's referral code when making an account?

  • Am I understanding it right that I need the $15/month add on to SMS overseas? Or is there a cheaper way?

  • Whenever I see that thumbnail pic, I imagine she's watching a fisting video.

    • +3

Be sure to cancel Auto-renew or you might just find yourself in that predicament.

  • +1

Buy now or wait till it drops to $0.49?

    • I'm going to wait until they're free again.

  • to activate ?

  • (Total Value $49.90)

Value to who? RRP$49.90 sounds more accurate imo.

  • 50 cents or no deal

  • Can anyone tell me…when I click on the deal and go to Groupon to purchase, the deal is $3.90. The 48 hours since yesterday aren't up yet. So I don't understand.

    • You need to apply the coupon 'KOGAN'.

      • +1

Thanks for being so quick netslicer…duh, I didn't see the link for the promo code.

        • :) Did the same thing myself in a previous deal, had to look around to find it.

        • took me a second to work it out too

  • if anyone is in the market for a Kogan 12 month prepaid 7GB per 30 days, I have one for sale in the classifieds….PM me.
