Dont Apple get a 30% cut or something?

  • +1

If you use the Red Cross option on iTunes, Apple gives 100%. They take no cut.

    • Where from?

    • Where does it say that?

100% OF SEGA'S PROCEEDS FROM SONIC THE HEDGEHOG iOS TITLES WILL BE DONATED TO THE RED CROSS DISASTER RELIEF EFFORTS IN JAPAN::

it says Segas proceeds, nothing about apples?

      • Apple is accepting donations to Red Cross disaster relief efforts in Japan (and Apple is not taking a cut on those).

I am more worried about Red Cross' high admin costs so not 100% of the money will end up going to the Japanese people.

Anyone knows better ways to donate? Honestly, $4.00 is too little.

Anyone knows better ways to donate?

Buy a new Honda or Toyota…

        • Red Cross takes 10% of donation for administration fees, which I think is quite reasonable. I once briefly worked for a charity where only 30% of the money collected actually went to its proper destination.

As to buying a new Honda or Toyota to help out… almost all Hondas for our market are now made in Thailand :-)

        • If you donate to Japanese Red Cross Society, all the fund will be transferred to be distributed directly among the affected population of earthquake and tsunami.

So if we donate through the iTunes store, Apple would actually be losing out considering that my $20 iTunes card was purchased for about $15.

    • Meant to POS not NEG sorry.

      Good idea but!

    • Has any one tried - may be you can't donate using store credit.

  • Upvoted out of love for Sega, and out of love for charity. <3

THE SAD THING IS THAT APPLE POCKET THE REST OF THE MONEY FROM THE SALE!!! HOW SAD IS APPLE FOR DOING THIS

    • What are you talking about? People have already said buy it through itunes and you can tick a box to donate 100%, apple gets no cut then.
