An unusual one but for Canberrans it's totally worth it (almost worth bussing down from Sydney as well if you like flying Qantas).

  As a Sydneysider - Do you have to catch the Canberra - Sydney flight, or can you just catch it from Sydney and effectively "throw away" the Canberra - Sydney proportion?

    sadly no, once you miss a leg of a booking, they cancel all the other legs on the ticket :/

    But Murrays bus is $30…. ;)

        You'd have to take the CBR-SYD on the way out - but on the way back you'd be able to drop the SYD-CBR sector quite easily. Just don't take yourself and your bags to the domestic transfer area after you come through customs and quarantine. Also pretty safe as QF only serves KIX from SYD … so if there is a problem QF won't reroute you KIX-MEL-CBR or similar.

  Geez not many dates… would have jumped at this but I'm only an hour after posting and there only seems to be 20 Jun-31 Jul, and very limited availability according to the Skyscanner calendar.

      Yep 19th Jun-31 Jul as well, pity there weren't other dates closer together for those of us who don't have six weeks to spend in Japan!

  Wow relatively few dates… would have seized this yet I'm just a hour in the wake of posting and there just is by all accounts 20 Jun-31 Jul, and exceptionally restricted accessibility as indicated by the Skyscanner logbook.
