[VIC] Makita LXT 18V X 2 Li-Ion 550mm Cordless Hedge Trimmer - Skin Only $199 @ Bunnings Coburg (Possibly Nationwide)

70

Hi

Went to Bunnings to get the $129 Makita hedge trimmer and saw that they had the 36V Skin Only for $199 as a Clearance Special. It has a redemption for a free 5.0ah battery (this requires two 18v batteries to operate).

Thought it was a great deal considering it retails for $399.

Cuts really well. I was impressed with the ease it went through my hedges.

it should be a 5.0ah battery

    • Correct. Post updated.

    • My concern is that the Makita Redemption page does not list my model number, it has DUH551Z, where the Bunnings variant is DUH551M1.

Bunnings Website, and the box state that it includes a battery via redemption.

  • how much are the 5.0ah batteries if I need a second one?

Also your post says 36v skin but you link to the 18v. Which one is it?

        • +1

          The Makita 36v equipment uses 2 x 18v batteries.

          36v. Its 2 x 18v

          The skin requires two 18v batteries. 2 x 18v == 36v.

          • @tor: Does that make something like a hedge-trimmer a bit heavy to use?

            • @GnarlyKnuckles: Yep. Each battery is 600g

            • @GnarlyKnuckles: I don't know. I returned my ever problematic 2 stroke ryobi to bunnings and bought an EGO 56v line trimmer from tradetools. It's very nice and powerfull, wont ever get petrol again.

  • Charger is sold here for $57 delivered.. https://www.poweraussie.com/products/makita-dc18rc-rapid-bat…

  • what's the red stamp mean?

    • Goods Taken - supposedly, without it you may not be able to get warranty? At least that's what the lady at the entrance told me.

Bunnings likes to stamp receipts to insure the customer doesn't reuse the receipt upon re-entry. Some customers were doubling up on items.

  • Checked this morning at North Launceston TAS on a DUH551Z which is what they had in stock, it scanned 399 at self checkout :( Iv had the $129 for 2 years and has been ok but is now starting to get some space between the blades and getting branches jammed in it.

    • Before and after use you need oil it and sharp it when it needed

  • Claim was rejected by Makita due to incorrect model. Hate that Bunnings has their own specific model number

    • Me too :(

    • I have two new makita 4.0a battery and a used charge.Would you want to buy?

      • Nah mate, thanks for the offer.

  • I am so frustrated by this. The Bunnings website has the DUH551Z model number but the invoice has DUH551M1 - Makita is rejecting it based on that, despite what the box and website says.

Would Consumer Affairs be the place to go to resolve this?
