    Seems very cheap!

    • yes, it's NVME so if people compare to SATA is might seem expensive, but if you want the speed of NVME its the cheapest I've seen for Australian stock for a 1TB.

  • Samsung 970 EVO 500GB NVMe 1.3 M.2 (2280) 3D V-NAND SSD With Assassin's Creed: O

$152 with 5%off is this too good to be true?

    has anyone used these guys?

    • +2

BudgetPC have a retail front as well. They are legit (and pretty damn good in my experience)

    • +1

the NAND chips are the same as SATA, the controller is different, so at some stage it will cost similar to sata, problem is how long do people want to wait.\

Most new motherboards and laptops support NVME, so as demand grows prices will come down towards sata prices.

      • -1

But the controller is different right?

  • Considering the drive is $429 on Budget PC website, seems a little too good to be true!

    • Fingers crossed. I bought one. See how we go.

  • +1

That’s better than the 960 EVO 500 for $156 from Friday (which I bought)

I knew it would happen but thought it would at least be Black Friday haha. Oh well!

    • +1

Yes this deal is pretty damn good.
      Cheaper and 20% faster
      https://ssd.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Samsung-970-Evo-NVMe-P…

      • I’m hoping real world it'snot going to be massively detrimental. It’s mostly the write speeds and gaming is mostly reads yeah?

        • I feel your rage cause I am you.

        • +3

          OK I BOUGHT ANOTHER ONE

        • at least 970evo come with 5yrs warranty vs 3 yrs on 960 evo.

  • +1

1tb nand for $300, hot damn hot damn i dont neeeeeed it

    • (profanity) dammit.
i just bought this model during the potplant sale on ebay and thought i did well getting it for $380 instead of $475.
why do i do this to myself…. :'(

  • Not bad for 970's.

  • Does anyone know if this is compatible with the late 2013 15" MacBook Pro?

    • I'm pretty sure apple uses proprietary SSDs for all their stuff just to make it more difficult to work on, this won't be compatible. A 1TB SSD compatible with a retina macbook pro looks like it'll be in the around $700 range.

      • I have equipment to read the various ssd interfaces and can confirm the Apple drives use a separate adapter

        http://www.guidancesoftware.com/tableau/hardware/tda7-3

The description there does say 2013-16 but it’s likely just not updated, however you’d probably want to rely on something like an iFixit teardown to be sure

  • odyssey makes this deal crazy tempting as I was planning to get it anyway and want to upgrade my laptop SSD which only takes m.2, but I don't technically need the space right now ahh

    • Before purchasing I suggest confirming your laptop supports NVMe m.2 SSDs, as some only support SATA m.2 SSDs (and some may support both).

  • +1

Anyone knows how the code will be sent? The promotion ends on 4th Nov, but the item be sent on 5th Nov.

    • +2

The redemption period continues to jan 30 2019. You claim through a series of links on the Samsung website, search assassins creed Samsung on google.

      • Oh, thank you.

  • +3

The motherboard of my PC does not even support NVMe, why do I want to buy this?

    I must resist

    • Haha, I am in a similar situation, I already filled up the one on my PC with a 960evo, one in my laptop and got another one on the way, yolo

    • I couldn't resist. Now i need a motherboard that supports NVMe. Been tossing up between 8700K and 9700K and can't decide.

      • +1

You don't need a new board. Just use your pcie slots.

          what…

Why do you do this to me T_T

        • I was thinking about doing that. I got a Z77 chipset so can't use it as boot drive, but i could put my steam library on it.

PCI 2.0 x4 would only give me 2.0 GB/s (which is probably more than enough anyway) so i could live with that until i can decide on new CPU / mobo combo.

  • anyone know when samsung next nand drive arriving, last time i heard it was in mass production. At least any show case, maybe CES 2019 at this rate. I think it the reason why ssd and nvme drive are so cheap these days.

    • +1

I think its to do with the memory oversupply.

      • 3d is easy to manufacture and has high yields ….wish dram was the same.

  • +1

As 860 EVO 1TB was just above $220 recently, this 970 EVO 1TB for $304 seems like a reasonable price. It is fast, I have the 960 EVO and it can hit 1000 MB/s read on my old x5670 on X58 chipset.

  • +1

    Damnit Ozbargains you strike again!

I was about 80% set on buying Assassins creed. Came here looking for a bargain on that…. left with an SSD lol.

On the plus side I had a $20 Ebay plus voucher lying around so grabbed this for $137 including shipping. The games worth at least $70 so I over paid $67 for an SSD. Can't complain! Have a second slot on my motherboard waiting to be used.

    • So the eBay Plus voucher stacks up with P5OFF?

      • +1

I didn't expect it to but it does! Yes confirmed.

  • I’ve purchased it. Now, where is the code to redeem?

  • +1

Why so cheap? Staticice shows normal retail is ~$220. It almost seems like a typo or something and we'll all get refunds tomorrow morning lol. We'll see I guess, just bought one, worst case I get my money back?

    • for what capacity drive?

  • Those who bought from computer alliance this morning would cry over this.

    • yeah just did it earlier today :(

  • wow i paid 275 for 500gb 4 months ago

  • +1

$279 incl delivery after using 3x $100 ebay gift code (bought at 10% off in previous deal).

Awesome deal with free game as well, thanks op!

  • +2

Why teh (profanity) did I buy a 960 Evo three days ago for more than this?????

  • Price for the 1TB has jumped to $394 + postage before discount.
Price for the 500GB remains unchanged.

    • omg i just bought it like 20 mins ago, so it was an incorrect pricing from their side then

  • +1

wow crazy deal thanks I couldnt resist, and with it my computer build is finally complete, I got a budget build back in 2015 and now it is a beast.

  • now is 394!!!!!nooooo missed it!!!!

    • I had 1 in my cart when the price jumped. :-(

  • +1

    Thanks!!!

  • +1

    Bought! Thanks OP!

Now, should I wait for code? or I need to ask Budget PC send me one?

Below is from their website, it doesn't say they will send a code to the buyer.

Promotional Period: Monday 8th October 2018 to Sunday 4th November 2018 or until sold out
Redemption Period: Monday 8th October 2018 to Wednesday 30th January 2018

Wait. Emailed them this morning and was told code will most likely be sent once the stock has been shipped.

      • Sent email on 30/10/18, no reply :(

Received email confirm mine posted, no info about redemption code.

    • got invoice from budget pc as well as code.
now, don't know how to sell the code nor what version we can redeem :(

  • +1

As I hit Pay it came up with the following: "A seller made some changes to an item listing."

I went and checked and couldn't see any difference so hit Pay again and it worked.

Shrug Thanks OP for the link if it still works lol.

    • How much did you pay? Because the price has changed.

      • +2

It was the 500gb one for $152.00 PP

        • Just wanted to make sure you didn't get overcharged!

  • Link working again

  • +1

RIP, whenever I skip ozbargining for the day I always miss out on something :S

  • +2

Ordered around 9pm last night, went in store to pick it up around lunch, they also emailed the code for redeeming the game with the invoice. Thanks for the bargain!

  • Confirming that mine has been marked as posted. So whoever bought one should get theirs hopefully soon :)

    • Yup mine posted too. Did you get the game redemption code?

      • Not as yet. It should come with delivery. I'm hoping!

Nevermind. Just got the code e-mailed to me. Happy days. Check your e-mail. Downloading game now.

Umart has a deal for $289 for the 1tb currently if you are still chasing one:

    https://www.umart.com.au/goods.php?id=43744

    regards Dave

  • +1

The 500GB is back in stock again. Not sure for how long.
If the Assassin's Creed code runs out, Budget PC has a different listing for the 970 EVO 500GB for $142.50 + delivery:

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Samsung-970-EVO-500GB-NVMe-1-3-M…

I don't think the cashback is valid in that link.

    • Umart is $139 free pick up as well if you are near one of the shops. Cheaper delivered from your find though. Prices are going down fast!!

      https://www.umart.com.au/Samsung-970-EVO-Series-500GB-M-2-22…

      • No Umart here in Perth. I did manage to grab the 1TB from this deal.
With the way prices are dropping, I won't be surprised if the 1TB 970 EVO is cheaper by next week.

        • Yep. It looks like its headed that way. Still not a bad price for what we paid. If the 1TB goes down to $250 next week then I'll be kicking myself :) or buy another!!

  • Anyone get the wrong item ?

    • Yes mate. I received it too.

      • Did you get the correct item ? Wondering if it just the size they got wrong. Guess will find out tomorrow when i pick it up from post office.

        • Yeh. Mine should be at the post Office. Have to see tomorrow. I am guessing it will be the wrong size or a different brand. I am almost hoping my order is incorrect so I get a free gift and keep the current item.

      • Got the email too. Mine isn't expected to arrive until Wednesday next week however. Long wait for me!

        • Did anyone get the 1TB instead of the 512TB or got it swapped around ?

          • @regenade: Unfortunately not. Received the correct 500GB!

          • @regenade: hope so.. but doubt it… on board for delivery today. Price is now cheaper at MSY so could have just pick it up on the weekend so will be very p!$$3d if its like the 250 in the box.

          • @regenade: Correct item arrived today

  • Did anyone who ordered get the code via an email or in the package ? If the codes are not received by 04th Nov, the promotion is closed !!

    • Received via e-mail yesterday.

    • Yeah, received an email yesterday. Already redeemed and downloaded.

    • Received email today with redemption codes.

  • Ordered the 1tb. Got the ebay confimation email and money have been taken.

No email code yet though. =(

    • Hey Mito. Check your email spam folder. If it's not there send them an email through eBay.

    • I'm the same, ordered on the 30th and it never got marked as sent on ebay, I ended up calling up their store and they said they had no stock left and its on back order and orders should hopefully be sent out on Monday, I said the promotion for the free game finishes on the 4th, he said he will see what he can do about the code, but might not be eligable anymore to give them out.. I'll be pretty pissed if that happens and most likely leave negative feedback on their ebay store..

  • +1

So I find out my order was just shipped yesterday after a week. Looks like my order was on back order as well, and I wasn't told about it. Little disappointing not to be at least told about it.
