The few times lugging around 3x 20L jerrycans are worth it

    • +1

I definitely saw few people filling in the big jerrycans. Car before me filled 140 litres.

    • +11

Good to see JV also ignores E10 fuels :)

    • +7

Pic also shows "No Entry" sign. Dagnabbit, this deal keeps getting worse ;)

  • U91 is 129.9c/l, with 4c+10c/l off, making it 115.9c/l. Definitely a bargain refuel nowadays!

  • +5

wonder if nearby 7-11 stations will 'pricematch' this, so we can use the app to get the same price if we're near it?
i know leet people use GPS spoofer, but i feel guilty doing it

    • Why feel guilty? It’s not like you’re making up your own cheaper price. Just getting the cheapest retail price.

    • No need to feel guilty. It's more customers for 7/11 and they know it.

  • +2

Can you ship it down to me in Sydney - PM me for paypal deets

I saw that driving past this morning and thought I was seeing things!

I normally use unleaded 98. Just for someone don’t know that, Coles Express’s 95 & 98 have much higher price than others. Their 98 is 0.23/L higher than regular 91 while others (Caltex, 7-11) are just 0.17-0.19 higher. So but given that their 91 is same as other, it is really a good price while they have 10c per litre off promotion but still not good for 95 & 98.

  • Pretty sure it opened this morning.

  • They sell the 95, it’s 146.9c/l. Not many other Coles Express in the area have the 95

  • Can most cars now support e10?

    • Yes but check yours online
I have an FG and tried 91, 95 and 98 and noticed no real difference, but the barra engine runs really well on e10

    • A lot of cars with turbo out there that need 95+. If your car doesn't have a turbo, there's a good chance it will run fine on e10

  • The price has gone up. Expired.

  • There are two Coles Express next to each other. 346-366 Gympie Rd, 4031, QLD has the regular price.
GO TO 505 Gympie Road Instead it is on the other side of the road.

    • It’s the new station on the corner of Boothby and Gympie road

lol plz don't use E10, it screws up your car fuel system and most importantly you get lower fuel economy from E10, meaning you will be actually paying more!

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Energy_density#Energy_densities…

    • +2

Not sure about the fuel system but I recall reading that E10 has 3% less energy compared to U91. So if the cost differential is less than 3%, then opt for U91. Otherwise E10.

Can any car people give their thoughts?

      • If you have an older car, it will eat away the fuel lines, damages orings and on motorcycles warps the plastic fuel tanks.

There's so much to lose just to save a couple of bucks using E10. I would pay a premium and use Premium 98 as you get better fuel economy and keeps your car healthy in the long run.

      • -1

It has to be more then 3% to offset the stupidity of having E10 in the first place, and then you need more to offset E10 related problems or the fact that you might lose more then 3%.

  • +4

I can't believe that paying 130 is considered a good deal … 6 months ago I would hold until I get around 110 to refill. I should buy a horse

    • +1

Horrible milage, high maintenance cost, expensive to 'garage', terrible 'exhaust' cleaning. No deal.

    • +1

Buy a PHEV. My fuel warning light has been flashing for the last 300kms. The only downside is the stupid fuel light has been flashing for 300km.

      • We just bought a PHEV and the fuel savings are incredible. 1.9L/100km and 50km EV range. We love the versatility of both fuel and EV considering that Oz doesn't yet have enough public charge points available.

Reporting live from the venue, there is a queue leading up to 15 minutes delay to fill.

    • +1

Wait until peak hour kicks in and the line is blocking Gympie Road. Fun times.

  • This place opened then shut down for a few weeks. Does anyone know the official reason why? I assume water got into the fuel.

    • Did it actually ever open though? Gilbarco guy was there last night when I drove past, and Pedestrian fence has never not been up (was just tape last night). Main service station (pumps etc) looked ready ages ago but shop didn't look fitted out until late last week? Water in the fuel is a possibility given how much of the little creek they reclaimed to fix the road there, and how much water flows through that area from Toptaste etc across the road. Could explain the cheap fuel as well!!

    • Nah it never opened. There was issues with the forecourt that had to be repaired (possible trip hazards). Definitely no water in tanks,

      • Wouldn't have thought it would be, I imagine the standards are pretty high on new service stations. Thanks for the confirmation.

Is it illegal for console operator aka service station attendant to give out price for fuel over phone?

    • lol wut?

    • Yeah up to 7 years jail and fines up to $100,000

      • Well then, 7 eleven should be in a lot of trouble.

    • It's a breach of Trade Practices Act. If a competitor rings and asks for the price, we can been seen as colluding with them to fix the prices in the area.

    • Someone just neg me for asking a question.. :/

    Include postage in title please

      Officeworks Price match maybe? ;)

  • For the Ozbargain community in south east Melbourne, Jacksons Road Service station has U91 @ $146.99.

Given that you can lock in 7-11 for 132.9, for an average tank, that's a saving of only about $2.90… not worth it with the long que, wasted petrol lining up, and inconvenience. $time 》 $2.9

    • +2

Where can you get it for $132.9? Not in entire Queensland

      • Doesn't matter. The fuel lock works nation-wide. And yes it is fine, been doing it for years.

  • Any idea how long this offer will last? Some of the petrol price tracking websites are going crazy with accurate and then much higher prices updating over the top of each other..

  • +1

Looks like 152.9 SEVENELEVEN 1/475 Leakes Rd, Truganina, 3029 for U98.

  • +2

    For the price lockers…

Cheapest 7/11 currently is Truganina in VIC.

    E10 132.9
    U91 134.9
    U95 146.9
    U98 152.9
    Diesel 147.9

Just back from Kedron ..deal still on.
Queue only 5 minutes and best to approach from Boothby Street.
People filling heaps of containers… one young couple trying to fill a 1L soft drink bottle..more on ground than in the bottle.
    Thanks to OP-great find.

    • +2

If you fill 50 liters at 130 or 150, the saving even if it's real would be of only $10… I get it's a saving (I went to Kedron to fill my car too), but unless you buy large quantities I don't see the point in putting in containers as it can dissolve some plastic, make a mess and be hazardous

      • I filled up 100L at $1.26 before I perceived the price jump, everyone said I was crazy talking about world oil prices like it meant something :)

About $30 saved, but for me it was partly because I've just moved to a new pay cycle, it was 45 days before my first pay so I've been doing garage fills to get me to that paycheck.

    • 1L? why bother?

      • Molotov cocktail perhaps?

  • Expired. Was just on the news. All over people.
