Now if only I could find a way to take leave at work!! :D

  • I just got back too…

  • No love for Perth :(

  • This is the middle of summer in Japan. I've heard that some tourist attractions close during summer - can anyone confirm is this true?

    • +1

I went in early May last year. Most of the tourist attractions appear to be open unless it was season specific. Either way, there are plenty of things to do there. And the weather at that time of year is great, low 20's :)

they dont close for 30 million tourists each year, no way!
Schools finish for the summer holiday about 25th of july. the last few years it has been expected to be rainy, but hasnt. plenty to do and see in this time.

  • What's with all these cheap flights to Japan? No one wants to go?

    • the wet season is very wet, and the hot season is very hot, hence certain times of the year are very cheap.

Massive expansion of tourism from Australia (and China and…).

15 years ago when I first went to Japan, you would go to a suburb in Tokyo like Harujuku and be the only western faces in sight.

Now the Rugby have match PR launches there and there’s more Australian faces than locals…

  • One day.

Can't wait to go back! Went in April 2 years ago and in short, it was amazing.
    Getting time to go though..

  • (profanity) why didn't I discuss leave at work today. damn it. I wish these deals when another day longer.

  • Cheers! Booked a return flight in May for $700 with 30kg included! Jetstar only offer 7kg standard, and charge an additional $275 for 30kg…

    • True but they were half price if you can travel light!

$300-400 extra for bags and microwave meals isn't worth it for some.

Can anyone say whether at 8 months out this is as cheap as it will get/ won't come around again? Big travel noob here

I'd be more worried about the dropping AU dollar. It's going to be 30 percent more expensive for everything you buy compared to a year ago.

    • Pretty normal for japan sales and they're frequent enough. I'd bet that another sale would pop up in 8 months.

Thanks TA, just booked the ticket through flight centre using the Amex FC offer, it comes to $520 per adult for flight in May!
