Picking on ESL speakers for spelling & grammar is gutless & racist! If you can't understand that post then the problem is your comprehension mate, not his/her expression!

Be honest, do you think you speak another language fluently enough so that YOU could run a business in a foreign country in a language other than your native tongue? That is almost a rhetorical question BTW!

        • +4

I had no problem understanding that post.

        • +3

          I from Indonesia ~ 23 years Old ~ Girl.
          i can speak (Indonesian,mandarin,chinese,English)

I can speak very good english but Not on the Written / Typing… so sorry.

        • @phinko, Selamat Pagi - oh no, Siang now…I forgot how late it is! :)

Don't worry, your English is perfectly acceptable. I truly do know native English speaking Aussies whose written English skills are not as good as yours! ;)

        • +2

At least it is english and Rep isnt typing lyk a 12 yr old lyK dis, coz dAt wuld mAke mE cRy. brain explodes

      • +1

If you can read, I said Las t week I ordered and have received within 1.5 week.
There was no Need for the return as it is a Genuine Hp branded charger.. Exactly the same which came with the laptop. "The description and the wires all are exactly the same as original one"
Therefore there was no need for refund as the sellers have more than 99% feedback.

When you buy genuine.. you dont have to go thru all those hassle that u have mentioned. Yes we may have to go thru with your ones as they are just a genral charger.

        • Have you got a link to these $8 OEM chargers?

        • Yes link please? I am very skeptical that someone can sell genuine chargers for $8. Most likely it is a counterfeit product.

      • -3

I am not saying I don't understand it, I am merely saying it is bad English, which leads me to believe he is an overseas seller. Yes I know a foreign language fluently enough that I could run a business in a foreign country in a language other than your native tongue.

        • Did you check the web link - Aussie domain?

Somehow I doubt that! If you were bilingual you would know the challenges of learning a second language & you would never have made that comment in the first place.

I asked you to be honest mate, time to man up! ;)

        • -1

Why do you have trouble believing it? English is actually my second language, so stop making speculations.

        • -1

          @ mustkill,

So it's ok for you to infer the rep/OP is China based without even following the link provided & checking for yourself first though??? There's a word for that mate, hypocrisy! :p

Yes, I agree my assumption that you are a native English speaker is speculative. I stand by that based on my experience that very few (well, none actually) of the NESB people I know would openly disrespect another for their English skills publicly like that, since they both know the difficulty each other faces!

Yes, it's a value based subjective judgement that neither of us will ever be able to prove or disprove, so it's now a moot point! :)

      • "some of the charger they sell after 1 week getting very hot & melted."

So, your chargers are compliant, and carry the mandatory logo and supplier's number?

    • +2

      Kabar Baik stewballs :)

      you from indonesia Too ?

I don't mind if people said MY english bad / Crap.
But i like to be honest.

      • Hi phinko,

No I'm an Aussie but I've spent a fair bit of time overseas (including Indo) & in Australia working with a diverse multicultural community. In addition to working with translators I like to learn some of the language & culture of my clients & colleagues (ok, I'll be honest it's all about the food). :p

English is widely acknowledged as one of the most convoluted & difficult languages to learn, with a ridiculous number of inconsistencies, irregular tense/aspect forms & exceptions to grammatical rules that many other languages simply don't have! Sorry if that sounds a bit technical but I hope it explains a bit to other English speaking readers too!

I have a great respect for anyone who can get their head around English as a second language (ESL)! Just because your grammar or spelling may be a bit off, doesn't mean your written language is bad enough that most people (if they look at the whole sentences/comment) won't be able to understand it in context. As myself and others said, your post was very much understandable, even if it contained some common ESL errors! :)

My apologies to mustkill if I jumped on him a bit hard over the ESL thing, it's a bit of a sore point with me, I just don't like seeing NESB folks villified in any way! ;)

Senang bertemu dengan Anda, Selamat tinggal, Semoga Beruntung! :)

P.S. I'd kill for Nasi Pedas about now! :D

  • I think quality is important.

    • +1

yes , Quality is no 1.
Little bit Expensive is Ok but u get Better Service + Better Quality.

some of my customer , buy a cheap Charger from oversea.
after 2 week melted and Burn the whole motherboard / powerjack of the laptop.
is really SAD :( cost $380 to change new motherboard & cost $80 to change new powerjack because of the FAKE charger.

(jUST some of my experience , when WE SERVICE our customer laptop)

      • -5

yES.. U R RITE… ALWAYS USE A GENUINE CHARGER AND NOT THIRD PARTY….WONT HAVE ANY COMPLAIN THEN… THIS CHARGER IS WORTH $25, LAPTOP IS WORTH MORE THAN $300.. $25 TO LOOSE $300 - NO DEAL.. BUY GENUINE EITHER FROM EBAY, OR FROM THE REPS SHOP.. THIRD PARTIES.. DO NOT TRUST..

  • +1

If you work at a place with a large IT workshop and you are on good terms on them, check with them first, they could have lots of orphaned power adaptors due to dead laptops. As long as the plug, voltage, polarity and power capacity are compatible.

    • Yep, I am advantaged in that regard. However, for those who aren't, $25 shipped is a fair price for a generic charger from an Aussie based seller IMHO! :)

  • Do you sell any chargers that would be suitable to run with a picoPSU? Something 8.5A or higher, like the two at the top of this page?: http://www.mini-box.com/AC-DC-power-supplies

    • +1

      Hi,
      So sorry.
i only have charger for LAPTOP.

      cheers

  • Nah. Neg from me.

    Illegal, quite possibly dangerous, device.

Sydney store (in Burwood) checked and found that there was no Australian Safety Certification (A-Tick or C-Tick) no Supplier's Number.

    Sydney - Burwood
    Shop 2B, 16-22 Burwood Road
    Burwood, NSW-2134
    Phone (02) 9747-8841

    EDIT:
    Confirmed by Melbourne store.
Illegal imports. Illegal to sell or supply in Australia.
Because of the attitude of the importer/seller I have sent a report to Fair Trading.

    • +2

If it is illegal, then it shouldn't be on here. A3Australia, so did you go in to the store?

      • +2

A3AUSTRALIA ? i THInk he are the FIRST PERSON in my life talk something over the phone that i really not understand.
if he come to my store , i will call 000 to finish thIS arguement.

i don't have time to argue with this kind of people over the phone for half hour.

i never said this is GENUINE charger from begining, is just a compatible / replacement with good quality.

a lots of people selling REPLACEMENT on ebay , website & Around australia.
why u just YELL at me ? why dont u just call all the computer shop in AUSTRALIA. What charger they r selling?

        • phinko,

I think the certification that A3Australia is talking about is the EMC compliance, which you can read about here:

          http://www.comtest.com.au/ComplianceGuides

It is actually illegal to sell certain electrical products in Australia without this logo. Can you please confirm that the chargers you're selling have this tick?

In regards to the threats, I think this is best discussed in private. Feel free to start a Talk with a mod thread:

          http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/add/forum/10041

    • +2

      A3Australia

you take things too far, researching is one thing, but calling up and ?abusing? the rep is another

      as SamFisher5986 simply puts it
      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/38046#comment-372483

Do you seriously just troll around Whirlpool and ozbargain?
Just like at Whirlpool, nobody cares.

      • CORRECT !! nO Body care whATever He said.

  • +1

Mods, how exactly do you plan to prove the legality of this deal? Also, is the legality become questionable just because it is an Australian store? There are heaps of online stores (dx, ebay included) that sell laptop batteries and chargers replacement. How are we going to prove their legalities?
There have been other adaptor deal posted here such as http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/16453
No issue of legalities was raised. Have someone actually check wireless1 store to check their Australian Safety Certification (A-Tick or C-Tick) or Supplier's Number?

Rep, I think you can help by confirming if there is a "tick" logo on the chargers. They should have one, because even my $9 charger from ebay has it.

  • +2

Some points - and in no particular order of importance.

    1. That deal is almost 2 years old, different awareness then.
    2. We have been debating this with each other for the past few days and have some differing opinions, while some agreed positions
    3. Once moved to the forums a post cant be moved back
    4. There are different rules for local sales vs overseas sales. Thats not our issue its a regulatory one.
    5. How do we know what is true and what isn't, one anonymous persons word over someone elses.
    6. The rep has had time to offer a response and hasn't - is that because they can't or they have just given up and moved on. Last logged on 12 hours ago. Agree with you that this was an opportunity for them.
    7. A-Tick/C-tick is for devices with telecommunications connectivity, energy safety is another requirement. If these PS are not to do with items connected to the internet this MAY not be necessary (MAY = Bush Lawyer and not a proven one at that)
    8. With no further input from Rep or A3, this looks like it will die for now. But next time we may have to develop a policy
    9. While this maybe a good price, its their "normal" price, so may not be a "bargain" in the sense of Ozbargain, so a forum post maybe more appropriate.

All above is IMHO and some comments are additive to the situation rather than exclusive, so need to be seen in context with the others.

    • Yes, I agree that this deal is just their "normal" price. But my question is about the legality issue. How do we, as a layman, can confirm the legality of a product sold in Australia? Just because some people say illegal imports, illegal to sell, etc., does not mean that they are right. If we can't easily do that, perhaps it may also be the reason why the rep cannot confirm this.

Is there a link to any official and authoritative references or resources? If we need a policy about this issue, then someone needs to do research on any actual reference to the textual law or regulation (or at least some info on government website)

      • Please read the top of the page:

        http://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/Businesses/Product_safety/…

Again, we are not experts and only responding to a report. That link above states that all(or a lot) electrical goods sold in THIS country by RETAILERS need to be certified as safe. Certification is usually assessed by getting a tick sticker (A-Tick/C Tick). That's my interpretation on it but I'm sure others will know better. Clearer than that, the rep can come on here and make their point.
