      Sony XM3 still better anyway?

      • +7

Overall I think it is. I own both now.

        QC35 -vs- XM3
micro USB B -vs- USB Type C.
        Press buttons -vs- capacitive interface.
Excellent NC -vs- Better & more flexible NC.
Excellent audio quality -vs- Better again.
Comfortable / suitable for long sessions -vs- Comfortable / suitable for long sessions but tend to be a lot warmer.
Both have audio leads and stupid plane plug adapter.
Ear cup twists upwards -vs- Ear cup twists downwards.
Both have a nice travel hard case. The Bose one is slightly smaller and I think a better design overall.

In case you're wondering… I got another pair because I like to block out he rest of the cattle on international flights.

        Dunno what else to add.

          Thanks for the write up!

So the Bose NC wasn't good enough on international flights? When I tried the Sony's in JB Hi-Fi, I looked like I had Princess Leia's hair buns! :|

          • @OldKing: ha ha ha!
I suppose that looking like you've got Princess Leia's hair buns may be a pro for some and a cons for others? :P

Oops. Didn't think about the wording there! The noise cancellation on the QC35s is definitely suitable for international flights. But if there is something that 'blocks out the world' entirely (or at least gets me closer) I'll definitely jump on that.

        • Is it true the Sony can only be connected to one device at the same time? I love how the Bose can connect to a few.

          • @AdamFury: Just checked between a few devices. Seems to be true.

            • @0xFFFF: You have to either: disconnect from device A and then connect on device B; or hold the power button to enter pairing mode and then connect on device B.

Ive found it to be abit annoying tbh

              Still, amazing headphones!

              • @art-fanatic: Correct. Unlike the QC35, the XM3 can only connect to one device at a time.
The QC35 is capable of 'splitting' the audio between devices. e.g. SBC to one device and AAC to another simultaneously.

@AdamFury: True. If you also use the Bose Connect App (Android et al), you can noq have a series of blue-tooth devices you can connect to stored in the app with two being live and hot swappable. i.e. If you connect via the app, you can swap out one current device for another on the list. The app is continually being updated. Very happy with how this app to manages this headset.

As for the QC 35's, I have the first generation unit, this is a fantastic performer. Even recent software updates for Gen 2 apply to my Gen 1 unit, including compatibility with Amazon Alexa.

            • @et tu brute: Been very impressed with my QC35 II's. I have heard really good feedback about the Sonys though! Haven't tried them so if I see a pair I might have to try them on and see what the difference is!

      • Going by this review https://www.rtings.com/headphones/tools/compare/bose-quietco… the QC35 beats the XM3 in comfort and sound quality

  • Ordered! Never knew theres a Triple Midnight edition. Thanks OP.

Did Bose not get the memo that the Sony has them beat hands down? RRP should drop to $300 now

    • They don’t care because there are many Bose snobs willing to pay the premium.

      • +1

Not neccessary to call all Bose buyers as snobs. When I purchased my Bose QC35s (Gen 1), Sony had nothing on the market that came within a bull's roar of these and I compared all available competition on the market. To be honest, as a former broadcaster, and with all my hearing still intact, I used to be a Sennheiser snob until I bought these…. Maybe Sony has now caught up, but being a subjective test, I would need to personally try them.

        • I agree. When i bought the qc35 gen1. Sony 1000x gen1 was just nowhere in the quality.

Not to mention it the in call quality of the sony was next to useless.

Oh the headband where cracking on the 1000x m1.

happy with my whx1000m3 I bought off you guys - more hot chicks are starring at me on the train now (could just be look at my sweet headphones). I'll take it though..

  • From what I've read, these will beat the Sony for some people based on being able to pair with dual devices. A benefit for me but each to their own.

  • That's not a bad price. I found another deal's price for this product in a US website with 57 votes is $264.99 (US dollar).
