          I tried the other day and it didn't work.. sales assistant claims it is to prevent people from extending the expiry date on gift cards… but i am pretty sure both wish and big w gift cards don't have expiry dates anymore.

            @missspeckles: Oh wow I just checked. Yeah you can't use giftcards for online payment anymore. It used to work though, I bought the tresemme shampoo and conditioner packs with them and that was only in August!

      On previous occasions the staff discount was also allowed, it was slightly more, 12.5% vs 10%.
      I'd assume this time would most likely be the same.

    Sometimes I wonder if 10% off is worth a special to Big W to look for random stuff to buy. Unless you're spending hundreds of dollars the savings are probably cancelled out by the cost of the petrol used to drive there and back.

      Depends how far you have to drive. For me it's a 10km round trip, or 0.5L of fuel. I have about $100 worth of items I want to buy there anyway, so waiting until tomorrow will save $10. Great saving? Not really. But I'll be buying the items anyway.

      BigW Optical doesn't do eGift cards either. Annoying. I asked the operator one day and he said Woolworths tried to integrate the cashier systems but it didn't work and caused a huge mess, so the decision was made to keep them separate.

    Big W appears to have recently increased the price of the Nintendo switch consoles to $449, but the price of some of the bundles didn't get updated.
    We got a Switch + Mario Kart bundle for $422.10 after the discount (usually $469+)
