Is this Au version or oversea version? Because au stock doesn’t mean au version.

      What’s the difference?

Some years ago I got an iPhone from Kogan and I found whatever I tried I cannot turned off sound when I took photos. Then I found because it was a Japanese version. Although I found a way to mute the sound finally, I’d been embarrassed for a long time while taking photos ;) For the xs max, I don’t know if the sound issue still exists, but the major differences may be esim or real dual sim

        • Embarrassed taking photos? Why?

          • +1

@onlinepred: Camera sound is too loud and I feel so stupid when I took photos and everyone looks at me

            • @kagari: Oh okay, I could understand if it was a super quiet place.

        • +1

The Japanese version still has the camera sound permanently on. It's locked int he firmware. I bought one on a trip thinking it wouldn't be that bad but I returned it cause the shutter volume is also fixed at quite a high volume.

        • +3

Yup that's right! by law they have to have the shutter sound on.

        • How’d you get to mute the Japanese model iPhone If you don’t mind me asking ;) I’m assuming its from a third party camera app?

        • My SE does that. How did you fix it?

    • +1

      The MPN suggests it's Australian.

this is AU version and AU stock.

    any deal for iPhone XR?

Almost $2k for a phone, what is wrong with the smartphone industry…? I thought $1k+ for a phone was ridiculous, but this is pure insanity.

You know there are cheaper phones lol?

You know you can buy 1 billion dollar cars, but you don't have to right?

There will always be premium products, you don't have to buy them though.

      • For million dollar car comparisons, you need to compare brands such as vertu

I still think the cheapest new iPhone is too expansive

        • Luckily for you there are cheaper phones! You don't need to buy the expensive ones…..

    • +1

Think of them as miniaturized laptops with better cameras and it feels a bit more reasonable.

  • Can you claim TSR on ebay purchases from stores like this?

    • If they have ABN# and provide a tax invoice, then yes you can!

    • Just be mindful of the concession (total tax-free amount) that applies to you if you intend to bring the phone back in to AUS:

      https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/trav/ente/duty-free-concessio…

"If you are aged 18 years or over, you can bring up to AUD900 worth of general goods into Australia duty free."

There's a possibility they could charge you the tax on your return to the country, although I've not heard of it happening.

      • It also stacks so if you and your partner come back together it'd be $1800.

    • +1

We provide GST TAX INVOICE for TRS claim

The Japanese have to have the shutter sound on in order to try and prevent upskirting. They have signs at railway stations saying no upskirting allowed.

  • +1

I refuse to pay more than $1500 for a mobile phone, unless it can
    - be transformed into a HD projector
    - play PS4/XB1/Switch games
    - Apple watch included

  • Any deals for iPhone XR?

  • I will wait for "iPhone XS Max SE Mini".. Hopefully that will be affordable..

    • +6

Apple should call it iPhone SE X.

      • that would probably sell out on pre-order in seconds…

    • What's your budget?

  • thanks op. not this deal but I managed to grab one iPhone Xr 256gb on ebay at $1,331 after PROPER10.

    • no receipt, so no TSR.

      • cheaper for those who don't fly overseas within 60-day period.

Price match officeworks and beat by 5%.

    • They don't price match eBay.

    • they don't price match vouchers and coupons
