Honest question : should I get this ? I got D3 original and played it for few months from day one. Wasn't that into it( I like arpgs in general ). Does it change much?
Money isn't a problem at this point but time is an investment.It becomes a lot more playable for sure. Different modes were introduced so you're not just farming the story, Auction House was removed, and a scaling difficulty system was introduced instead of just the 4 main difficulties that existed early on. It's a fun game, for a while… then if you're not interested in pushing leaderboards every season, it really feels like there is no point playing the game, unless you just love farming, and farming, and farming… and relying on a completely random loot system (RNG) to give you the items you might be after.
But if you're not into the genre, then no, probably not worth it. The game style remains the same throughout.
Once you get the first expansion (Reaper of Souls) you'll ditch Story Mode in favour of the new Adventure Mode which allows you to explore the same Story Mode maps but in any order and with additional challenges and rewards. Your end game progression is going to be via Rifts/Greater Rifts which are just randomized instances of dungeons which give loot once you get to the end of it.
Starting with a character from level 1, you'll probably feel progression in the first 30-40 hours of playing, but that after you start feeling the "grind", where you won't be finding any upgrades to your gear for hours, and even when you do, the upgrade is very minor (a few extra points to critical hit chance or your main attribute for instance).
The expansion really improved the game

Went to get RoS a few weeks ago and noticed they had a good price for this, can't remember exactly how much.Currently $50 on their website, so not sure what made you think that! Unless in store prices are different…?

Few weeks ago is not the same as today. It could've been a sale price back then, or a store specific price, but you've just shown it's not the same price you paid right now.
