Telechoice - Prepay and Save Plans - 7/13 Months (eg. 4GB Data Unlim Talk/Text for $14.14 P/M over 7 Months)

50

Just was checking Telechoice to update my existing SIM and have come across these new plans if you wish to prepay and save.

The blurb:
"Looking for a way to save on your mobile bill? Pay for either 7 or 13 months upfront, and enjoy the discount. Everything is cheaper in bulk."

This may come in handy for low-end users, for example, 7 months for $99 ($14.14 per month) to give you 4GB data, unlimited calls, SMS and also unlimited SMS for international (international calls not included though). 13 months works out to be $13.85 per month. Telechoice use the Telstra wholesale network.

These are based off their SIM only plans at: https://www.telechoice.com.au/sim-plans/no-lock-in

Terms & Conditions: Offer ends soon. For use in Australia. Not available in conjunction with any other TeleChoice offer. New and Eligible recontracting customers only.

Enjoy :)

  • Please change title it's not "$14.14 over 7" should be $14.14 per month for 7 month.

  • beaware, telechoice is not prepaid service.

    • -1

don't know who negged you! I neutralised it. someone without a clue always jumps on it. These areprepay not PrePaid plans
I was with them for a few years. good coverage, fewer data. I left since they don't have international calls included.

      • You can add international calls on for $5/month

      • What's the difference?

        • From Telechoice's prepay terms:

Your plan is for a SIM only Post-paid mobile service where you Pre Pay the minimum monthly plan charge for a period of 7/13 months. Excess charges not included in your Pre Pay Plan will charged on a Post Paid basis where you Opt-in for these services.

In this case though (unlike their other plans) it looks like you need to opt-in to extras if you do go over your limit:

If you exceed your monthly data allowance, you may Opt-in for additional data packs. Excess data packs are charged at $10 per 1GB ($0.0098 per MB) or $15 for 2GB ($0.0074 per MB).

Compared to one of their other plans:

If you exceed your monthly data allowance, we will automatically add 1GB to your service at a charge to you of $10 ($0.0098 per MB) 1GB (Gigabyte) = 1,024MB (Megabytes).

So for all intents and purposes this is a prepaid plan!

  • +1

A note also that you now get "bonus data", which essentially doubles the data allowance for their two cheapest plans (2GB -> 4GB & 5GB -> 10GB).

People on existing plans just need to contact support to get this bonus.

    • Just went through online chat and no less than three phone support representatives to try to change to this.
On the third one I just gave up - they're fine if you never have to speak to them but my goodness it's terrible to have any interaction.

The first person told me you can't even use the SIM to receive SMS if you're on the Prepay plan (actually not true)

Also they couldn't answer what happens after the 7 month period

With international pack this would be 19.14/month for 4gb data, unlim aus and $150 international minutes (roughly 160-170 mins depending on location) so not sure it can be beaten.

But damn I'm not calling back again!

  • What happens after the initial period? Billed a higher price, or just that your quota is cut?

  • any cheaper ones on telstra network?
