    Just for others: 1440p @ 75Hz, w/ Freesync.

  • Is there any real benefit of getting a 144 hz vs 75 hz ?

    • It's considerably smoother especially noticeable for FPS.
If you can't hit the necessary FPS due to your GPU, at least your desktop cursor will be smooth!

    • +1

      Much smoother.

Although at this price point it's a "75hz + 1440 or 144hz + 1080", so it's whichever you find more valuable. Detail or smoothness.

There’s a big difference with 1440p vs 1080p, same thing goes for 75hz and 144hz. IMO a 1440p 144hz would be better, better graphics and smoother FPS!

        • +1

Absolutely, they just tend to be pricier. If we're talking about the 300~ category it'll be either or.

So comes down to the classic budget pc debate, frames or graphics!

Side note, pretty funny how the monitors and game settings have more or less the same decision for budget people.

  • I assume this is the not the updated IPS model? That version has same model number but D8 at the end

IPS according to the ebay listing.

      • Disregard, apparently VA pannel

  • is this tn panel?

    • IPS according to the ebay listing

    • +1

Listing appears to be a VA panel sadly "AOC Q3279VWF 31.5" QHD FreeSync VA LCD Monitor - White / Silver - 2560x1440 "

      • Wait what? Came up as IPS for me before :/

Hmm, not a pc gamer but wouldn't mind this for my Xbox One X and for desktop work - Not 4k but freesync the advantage.

    • -1

Freesync doesn't work with consoles tmk? Also requires a AMD graphics (again, TMK).

Though the size, resolution etc would definitely make it a great screen for consoles/work. Consoles never tend to take advantage of higher refresh rates, and work'll almost certainly be better with 1440p then with 144hz.

It does work with the xbox one x. I have a FreeSync display and there's an option to enable it in the settings.

        • The more you know, lol.

That's actually pretty cool. I know (think?) AMD supply the CPU/GPU for both platforms, but didn't think either of the consoles actually supported freesync.

@N1NJ4W4RR10R: It only came around early/mid this year but its there. A nice little bonus for those who choose to get an Xbox over the PS4.

            • @Ostrk: Definitely, I'd imagine freesync would be excellent with 30fps?

              • +1

@N1NJ4W4RR10R: I've used freesync for a while now and have gotten used to it so I don't see the difference much anymore. It was evident when I first started using it with my PC though. I've been using it for so long that I don't know what it's like to play without.

Can you overclock the refresh rate?

  • If this was at least 100Hz it would be exactly what I'm looking for…
