    Anyone tasted this brand?

My favourite is usually Vitasoy (even more than Bonsoy), but I hate So Good.

Some tasting notes would be good.

    • +1

I bought one yesterday and would say it is OK to drink. Not a regular soy milk buyer.

    • Wouldnt rate

I normally go for vitasoy high protein or bonsoy
imo these are nicer and have better macros

      • Really? For me the Vitasoy Protein Plus had too much of a distinct "bean" flavour, tasted very bad with WPC and on it's own, had about 3 cartons of it but I much prefer the regular or Calci-Plus ones, the extra few grams of protein wasn't worth the taste difference to me.

        • Its more beany and has less sugar added so makes sense if you like a little sweeter.

    • I buy this one quite often. To be honest, the flavour jags around quite a bit. Sometimes nearly as good as Vitasoy, sometimes not.

It is made from whole beans, not isolate. Definitely tastes better than So Good.

It does spoil quite quickly. I have no idea why, but after you open it, it will go gooey quite quickly if you dont consume it.

Vitasoy is still the best though. I will generally only buy this if Vitasoy is full priced.

      • Where could I find this please? It is in the fridge?

  • +1

I use this everyday. Well the one in the more UHT style container (says "smoooth and creamy" on the front). Probably the same stuff.

Anyways I have found it far superior to other Soy Milks for Hot Drinks.

  • Are these sweetened?

    • +2

Seems to be sweetened with rice syrup, which based on Google search,is worse than regular sugar due to arsenic concentration. Have a look at the ingredients carefully

      • -2

Nutjobs said it was bad because of arsenic, OK.

        • +1

I don't know mate. Google search seems to have more bad results about rice syrup than good. I'm not an expert so I people should do their own research and do what they feel like. I don't think I'll be buying it though.

        • That's okay, arsenic is all natural /s

      • Thanks very much for this post. I wasn't even aware of rice syrup till your comment.

      • You would have to drink a shedload of rice malt syrup for it to have an effect. Its not just rice that contains arsenic, it occurs naturally in many other foods. There would be way more arsenic in rice milk.

  • I prefer So Good Soy over Vitasoy.

    I havent tried this one..

    • When I go to a cafe I will prefer Bonsoy but if I'm desperate I'll go for anything except So Good Bad - that's an automatic deal breaker for me.

Therefore: One-off opinions on taste are pretty useless! Large samples might be more useful.

That said, IMO this is ok. Just ok.

How did So Good become Bad though, did something change lol

        • +1

          IMO it's always been bad.

          (So Good ice-cream is OK.)

          • @afoveht: It uses soy protein isolate instead of whole soy beans, just like the Aldi milk, which is why both of them taste like arse. Some people claim to like them, no idea why.

    • +2

So Good tastes like that 0% fat “milk” from the 80s plus a cup of oil mixed in.

      • +2

After being in a plastic bottle for a hot year.

        • +1

Interestingly their ice cream is really nice

  • +1

    Soy boy

  • Trying to get my kids into soy milk but they aren’t into the taste of the woolworths brand.

Any thoughts on Which is the most milk like in taste?

    • Soy milk called "Soy Boy" in pink carton is pretty milky and creamy :) Taste-wise I won't compare soy milk to cow's milk anyway

      • Thanks for that. Yeh I love the super soy tasting ones but need to transition my stupid offspring via some of the milder forms

    • Rice milk is nicer.

  • This is my favourite compare to Vitasoy.

  • Online Only Price? According to Coogee Woolworths

  • Soy beans don't have nipples

    • +1

True. We don't take away the soy beans children though and then steal the milk that was meant for them to put on our cornflakes.

    • Neither do coconuts but here we are

    • Peanut butter doesnt contain butter either.

      • What? Next you are going to tell me baby oil is not made from babies. Say it isnt so?

        /s

So my local WW still had this at $2. I asked but they just said that’s the price. Is there normally differences between online and in store prices?

    • Scan it at the checkout for the current price. Sometimes special price tag was not updated on time.

      • Yeah bought it at $2 then went back to ask.

        • Or you bought it from a Metro store. Metro stores may not sell them at supermarket price.

          • @Neoika: Which store did you buy it from if in Sydney?

As stated above, Coogee also checked out at $2 (and Randwick doesn't stock it). This has never happened to me before. The staff always say on-line prices are different when a discount tag is missing and I always prove them wrong. I did the walk of (mild) shame.

  • how does this compare to the homebrand that is $1.15 per litre?

    • As someone mentioned above, they use rice syrup as a sweetener but not very much, and since the components of rice syrup are glucose and its derivatives (e.g. maltose) it's already less sweet than everyday sucrose (the fructose half is what makes sugar sweet).
