  • I use my father in laws one. Exact same and didn’t like it too much.
A couple starts on a 3.6L air cooled and it’s out of it.
Maybe I wasn’t using it correctly.

    • As in it died, or needed to be recharged?

      • Needed to be charged.
The battery level says 50% but wouldn’t start.
It would just click and throw an error.

In saying that though, I’m not sure how many jump starts it should be able to do. was my first time using it. Have previously used full on jump starters.

    • Seems unusual. From what I have read there have been overwhelming positive reviews with a few exceptions with possible faulty units.

Time will tell hopefully it does what I need it to do.

  • I need one (well anything that'll start a 1.3L) now. Any suggestions?

    • Get the smaller GB40, from the same seller. Works well on flat 4 2.0L, just needs to be charged after every jump

  • I have the 1000A GB40 model of the same thing. I couldn't be happier. It has started a 2.4L Toyota regularly. Multiple starts without a recharge. My wife used it frequently while we waited to get the car fixed. She raves about it.

My old man used one on a classic 5.0L V8 and is happy with it too.

    • Yep this is the one I'm considering for my 2017 lancer 2l. It always seems the gb40 can be had for a few bucks more than the gb20 online. I believe gb70 has 12v power outlet as well though so you can use it to power compressor, fan etc also.

  • Better off waiting for the gooloo sale on amazon. Jump start and power bank.

  • For $215 why wouldn't you just replace a dodgy battery? Couldn't be much more than $100 for the small engines people are talking about here and would probably give another 5 years of no flat battery.

Not trying to be a smart arse, I'm not particularly knowledgeable in thing automotive but whenever I've had regular problems with flat car batteries, new battery has generally been the solution (after I've spent a couple of months thinking one more jump start will sort it out).

    • As said elsewhere, this is like a set of jumper cables, except that you don't actually need another car to use it. If you want to be a white knight, also helpful for anyone else you might see stuck.

It's pretty easy to find yourself with a flat battery if you accidentally leave lights on, etc. This makes that something you don't have to worry about.

It's also able to act as an external USB battery, so if you re ever stuck somewhere with a flat car and phone battery, you could also use to charge your phone, I guess.

Mine was indispensable for my wife when driving the kids around during that period (like you mentioned) when I hoped the battery would come good (nope). She got to where she could get this set up and car started in a minute or so.

      • I love my toys and gadgets just as much as the next guy but just can't see the appeal.

I carry a set of Matson leads but in the last 10 years have only used them to start other people's cars. They stay in my car all year, regularly parked in the sun and they're always ready to go. Can't see a battery like this holding up too well to that treatment for long. I'll be passing my leads on to someone else in 30 years.

Each to their own. While these sound nice, I just don't see them as practical for the average person and will likely need to be replaced in a few years anyhow.

  • This is a backup, plus you can use it on multiple cars and it's easier than jump starting with another car, especially if you're parked in a tight spot.

  • Is this a typo?
