  • Are these Nanoloop compatible?

  • +7

Do these work with eneloop charger

    • +2

Yes they are both niMH battery types

  • Bought a pack of 12 AA for $30 similar price to IKEA ladda. Will try and see how these perform

    • IKEA has stock now? Can't find any in Vic.

      • +1

Amazon has 12 AA for $30, not IKEA

  • +1

Been waiting for them to bring them to Australia for ages but probably have too many rechargable batteries now.

    • What devices you use them for btw?

      • +5

Kids toys mainly for now but unfortunately some of them don't work with rechargeable batteries. We do use them in remotes and things like that even if it's not the best way to use them. We've had so many issues with leaking batteries that we just use rechargeables to try to avoid damaged devices now.

        • i found out lithium rechargeable is the way to go with kids toys instead of nimh as some are not compatible

          • @Balls: We've got quite a few regular batteries too so we'll just go through all of those for now. He really only has a couple of toys where rechargeables don't work I think.

          • @Balls: Any recommendations?

          • @Balls: Which ones do you use? I looked into it in the past but could only find no name brands and not much info on charging them etc I dont want to buy a dodgy as my understanding is lithium ones would be far more dangerous if it explodes compared to a normal NiMH

        • Is there any point using rechargeables for remotes? Most remotes you probably won't need to replace the batteries for many years and batteries expire so you might get 1 recharge out of them.

I only use rechargeables on things that actually require recharging every so often. Otherwise I just use alkaline for the rest

          • +1

@witsa: We have had a lot of problems with leaking batteries. I'd rather just "waste" rechargeable batteries then have to replace the devices. We have so many rechargeable batteries hence why I haven't bought any of these Amazon ones.

            • @ozbs25: Do rechargeable batteries not leak?
What makes Nimh less compatible? Are they lower voltage? AA should be 1.5v.

              • @Mr Plow: The issue is that they're 1.2v, because they use different cell chemistry to alkaline batts. For many the lower voltage doesn't matter, but for a rare few it does.

For whoever asked on the other deleted post,
these are LSD batteries. Low Self Discharge, not the drug known as acid.

    • +6

And not about drifting cars - Limited Slip Differentials.

    • +8

Low self discharge, also known as microdosing.

    • Low Self Discharge, not the drug known as acid.
nah, that's how much power they hold, like Lucy In the Sky with Diamonds!

    • damn, was looking for LSD…(not Low Self Discharge) :P

    • these are LSD batteries. Low Self Discharge, not the drug known as acid.

Damn, need to cancel my order then.

    AA deal expired already?

    • How much were the AA? Also $19.90?

  • +7

Just letting anyone who want to buy the AA 16 pack. Somehow they charge $8 shipping for the 16 AA (even with Prime), I went to chat with CS and they provide $8 discount to offset the shipping so 34.99 for 16AA if you interested. With Ikea constantly OOS, I am giving this a try

    • Thanks for this. My CS said he would give an $8 promo credit, but ended up rounding up to $10.
They place the credit on your account to be used on your next Amazon purchase (with some restrictions like it being purchased through Amazon AU etc) - so in theory you could ask about the batteries and then get the $10 credit on whatever you want from Amazon AU if you were so inclined.

    • Don't have the link now, but FYI, Ikea discontinued their rechargeable batteries.

  • +1

Where did the last post go?

Anyway, how are these compared to actual Eneloops or Ikea Ladda's. They've been out of stock for so long.

  • +2

These are a cheaper alternative at $13AUD if you don't mind waiting. I can't comment on cycle life, but capacity meets claims so far https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004998577529.html

    • How many days total did it take to receive your batteries from Aliexpress. Always considered it but the slow boat shipping of batteries put me off.

      • +8

I’ve been buying random things off Ali in the recent months and shipping is around the two week mark these days. Not as good as prime but acceptable and much better than historically.

      • +1

        ~14 days for that order.

      • same but someone advised on here 14 days despite what Aliexpress might show for shipping times, spoke to seller & yes batteries arrived 2 weeks after ordering

      • +1

I love aliexpress and their general item shipping has become super fast (like around a week in some cases) but in the case of these, I ordered from the store posted in this thread over four weeks ago and they're not here yet. I think they're being sent by sea bc they're batteries. In that case a month is not unusual I believe.

        • It depends on seller and shipping method used. I ordered Soshine 14500 size Lithium ion batteries from AliExpress and it came fast surprising me. Ni-Mh batteries should be easily sent by air.

      • +1

aliexpress shipping times has improved significantly, usually 2 weeks these days.

      • +1

Around a week for Choice items, for non Choice it takes from 2 weeks to a month+. Surprised no one has clarified which items ship fast in the replies.

    • Thanks for sharing, worth a try!

  • Whats a good charger for these?

    • +5

      Nitecore D4

    • Ostation 2 Pro on kickstarter if you’re really going down the rechargeable path

      • just went down the rabbit hole of kickstarter chargers, linogy looks interesting as well, although I was always under the impression that slow charging was best for longevity, and the la crosse and tenergy were my chargers of choice for this reason, with the ability to spped it up if required. Seeing what the actual capacity and being able to refresh is great. and sometimes just a dumb charger to get an old battery limping again before smart charging. Can't see where these new ones have that flexibility.

      • Ive ordered the Standard version. I cant justify an extra 30USD for a screen

  • Does an IKEA charger work for these? Thanks!

    • +2

      Any NiMH charger will work

  • Finally!

  • AA x12 were also $19.90?

  • FINALLY! Thank you for letting us know :)

  • +2

16 pack at $24.90 in stock now, better $/battery.

  • +1

Shame nobody sells a mixed pack. I'd like a 10AA+10AAA or similar rather than 20 of each which is overkill considering I already have some.

  • good for solar garden lights?

    • it says 1000 cycles so that should be good for 3 years

  • +1

Is this made in the same Japanese factory as eneloops? Curious why they have received so many upvotes. I am long time user of eneloops, then ladda but ladda pro’s are perpetually out of stock now

    • +1

      Made in China

      • Thanks Techno

    • +1

I like cheap rechargeable batteries as they generally don't leak. I've had so many issues regular batteries across multiple brands where they've destroyed whatever they have been sitting in. The batteries even leak when we take them out of the device and keep them in a container. We really only use regular batteries in things that won't work with rechargeables.

Edit: While I say cheap, I do still kinda want them to be from a reputable brand or store.

    • +2

Think the upvotes are mostly from how cheap these are. It's roughly 50% off. The price is tempting to me. The cons are that they are not as durable as eneloops in terms of charge cycles. These have about half the number of charge cycles.

      • Thanks guys. I have quite a few Chinese made eneloops and they are either not LSD or have significantly reduced capacity when they have been storage for 1-2 months. Might hold off on Chinese made rechargeables for now..

  • There's a new offering of 8 x AA rechargeable for $21.90

  • hi, i'd love to know if the packaging has date of manufacture like ikeas do?
can some1 check and report pls? 🙏

    • +1

No date on the 16 x AA pack. They all had 1.29V out of the box. All the of them tested to around 2000ma. Only had 1 battery with voltage sag during testing.

      • ty so much for reply ♥️

I've bought the EBL 1100mAh cells (https://www.amazon.com.au/EBL-Rechargeable-Batteries-1100mAh…) in the past and can confirm that these indeed have a 1100mAh capacity at a 500mA discharge rate (this is the lowest my LiitoKala Lii-500S battery charger will discharge at). I bought these in 2020 and they're still going strong after 5 years and still maintain a capacity between 800-1000mAh at a 500mA discharge rate.

I really need to test these with a lower discharge rate because most devices will only draw 10-50mA. May do this at a later date on new cells and report my findings.

My newer (only 2-3 years old) Ikea Ladda 750mAh AAA cells on the other hand have fared much worse. Some of the cells only have 200mAh capacity and most are only hold 400-500mAh.
