  • I hope they honour the deal though… I have received shipping notification which is automatically generated by the system but considering its Sunday, no item would be shipped today so they might still cancel my order. Oh well.. lets see

    • +1

      They have in the past.

The Wahl deluxe grooming clipper set for $10 comes to mind. Ordered Sunday from SS and received Tuesday. I still have it in the box as it was impulse buy at that price and my old clippers still work. It was posted on this site between a year and two ago, but I'm having a hard time finding the link.

      EDIT:
I just received my shipping notification email well after the item was pulled from the website.

  • +1

I was about to buy it but no im not as its coming up as $379 in checkout

    • same. now its not coming up at all.

  • missed it.

  • That was quick.

  • Has anyone got screenshot showing $279? I am trying to pricr match with HN.

    • I ask Harvey Norman price match they refused to match it said the price is well below the market rate and much lesser than the selling point.

  • +1

Id buy an ipl device but it seems likely that in 20 years we'll go "well, duh, it's SO obvious that IPL and skin cancer are related!" what were our parents thinking?

    • +2

"The existing evidence base of over 25 years of laser and IPL use to date has not raised any concerns regarding its long-term safety with only a few anecdotal cases of melanoma post treatment over two decades of use; therefore, there is no evidence to suggest that there is a credible cancer risk. Although laser and IPL technology has not been known to cause skin cancer, this does not mean that laser and IPL therapies are without long-term risks."

Not skin cancer, other risks maybe. The journal article even finds evidence that IPL can actually prevent skin cancers in areas prone to developing later skin cancers.

"Light therapies and lasers to treat existing lesions and CO2 laser resurfacing can be a preventative measure against BCC and SCC tumour formation by removing photo-damaged keratinocytes and encouraged re-epithelisation from stem cells located deeper in the epidermis."

      https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5653718/

      • I'll have to read that properly later. I wouldn't expect issues to show up for 20 years or more. And I'm wondering how many cases are both linked and reported.. Without a good system to report and share data to researchers, which I doubt there is, you can go forever without connecting the dots.

I'm willing to be wrong though. In fact, I'd like to be wrong because I'm really hairy and it's a nuisance. But the consequences are potentiality fatal, that's a huge risk just to shed hair.

Edit: I quickly skimmed to the bit about wavelengths.. interesting. Maybe it is safe, the extent and accuracy of current knowledge is still a concern, even with peer reviewed articles bias is so often a huge problem with investigations being industry backed.

        • +1

I wouldn't expect issues to show up for 20 years or more.

The study specifically mentions an evidence base of over 25 years of laser and IPL use.

  • Is this still a 'good' price though?

    • It's compared to going to clinics for the same effect, two or three treatments costs as much if not more.

      • Just a male Brazilian costs close to $100 for one 5 minutes session. With a recommended 12 sessions every 5 weeks. then a maintenance session once a year after that. Not including any other body part. So the price is relatively ‘good’. Even if alternating this with professional sessions to maximise results or bring over all costs down.

        • Brazilian males are cheap, what about Brazilian women?

  • -2

seems like a pretty unhealthy product, probably wrong though

    • What?

    • +2

you're totally correct. It contains very little nutritional value.

      • -1

why are you wanting to remove hair anyway?

  • Gone up again to $399.

  • +2

Back to 279 plus cashback. Messaging mods to update post. Ordered one.

    • +1

Looks like hairless meat is back on the menu boys!

    • Thanks, Mate. Ordered 1 plus tootbrush to make it just over $300 to get TST refund. Winning !

  • Looks like they pulled the listing again. Hope they ship mine.

  • LOL, what is happening with them ?

  • Okay, we are back in business. Thanks mods for updating. Guys go for it.

  • Getting page not found again. Whoever had the job of updating the price probably kept confusing the before and after cashback price.

Should probably mark this as expired again.

    • I can see the item and price as $279 but it reverts to $379 in the cart…

  • +1

Just searched for IPL and found a BaByliss version for $99.
    https://www.shavershop.com.au/babyliss/homelight-connected-i…

Did I just buy a crappy copy IPL device, or is that also a good bargain?

  • I walked past the Lonsdale street store in Melbourne CBD store today and I swear I saw they had some physical stock at the $279 price. But I'd phone ahead and confirm.

    I went for the BaByliss.

    • Nope, they have it as $279 after cashback in store. They just display the after cashback price prominently with the before cashback price displayed in fine print.

I ended up purchasing the BaByliss as well.

      • Not dodgy at all.

  • So I didn't receive an acknowledgment email or invoice/receipt - just the shipping email. I emailed them and asked them to email the receipt to me and they said not until after I receive it. I guess I will eventually get it but seems strange that I can't have it now?

  • Just received it today with invoice attached.

  • Has claim been processed for anyone as yet by Philips?

    • mine hasn't

      • Just received email this morning stating it has been validated.

    • I didn't get any confirmation at all.

      • Did you get an email after registering for the cashback saying it would be processed?

"Thank you for registering your Philips Beauty product.
Your cash back claim has been received and will be processed.
Please find the registration details below."

If you didn't get an email saying that, I would chase it up as you perhaps registered the product but didn't register for the cashback. I made the mistake of only registering the product and then had to register for the cashback and received that email right after.

I only registered for mine yesterday though.

        • Received this email and I did receive claim registration separatrly.

This email is to advise that your Philips Beauty Christmas Cash Back claim for your Philips product has been validated.

You will be advised via email as your claim progresses.

          Thank you for your patience.

          Kind regards
          The Philips Promotion Team

    • Yes, registered online and put the receipt from Shaver Shop as soon as it was emailed to me.
Yesterday I got confirmation that the claim was validated
TOday i got confirmation Visa card was being posted .

      • put the receipt from Shaver Shop as soon as it was emailed to me

I didn't get any receipt from Shaver Shop. Would the receipt from PayPal be enough you reckon?

  • If anyone got 2 or wants to sell theirs PM me, thank you.

  • Anyone else having problems with the cash Back? I’ve tried so many times over past 2 weeks and it won’t save. I’ve emailed them many times and tried phoning but you have to leave a message!

    • +1

      Yes.

I received the email saying my cash back would be processed a couple of weeks ago and contacted live chat yesterday to ask the status of it, as I had not heard back from them in a while and others in this thread had their cash back claim validated.

I was told it would take 28 days to be processed. I have a feeling they are trying to pull a sneaky fast one on us, hoping that we forget about it.

      • I haven't seen live chat - is that on the phillips website?

        • Yep, the link to start the live chat is on this page linked below.

          https://www.philips.com.au/content/B2C/en_AU/support-home/su…

        • I received my validation for the cash back shortly after writing about it - maybe they are watching this thread lol!

          • @c0balt: Has anyone received the gift card? I had the email that my claim was validated on 27/11 but haven’t heard anything since

  • That's the worst cash back I have ever experenced. Waited for such a long time and got a email:

"Unfortunately your claim is invalid as it does not meet the required Terms and Conditions of our offer. Specifically: Clause 5 - The claim was received without a copy of the original receipt - Your claim was not accompanied by a copy of your receipt."

I attached scanned PDF file and also the photo when lodge the claim!

Then I rang the phone number but when to the message box. left the message but no one ring me back. I also replied the email with the receipt, but NO REPLY AT ALL!!!

  • Just chat with the customer service after waiting for more than 1 hour with number 4 in queue and told I have to contact promotion team direct for the status. They are not helpful enough to ask their other team on behalf of ours. What a bloody bad customer service, Philips!

  • Agreed worst cash back process ever!!!!

  • Stay away from any cash back deals from Philips. They took 1 month to send the card which you can't activate online because the card number was incorrect.

They didn't update their systems. Worst cash back company ever.

  • Got my email from philips saying my cashback card is on the way.

"We are happy to advise that your Christmas Beauty Cash Back claim has been finalised.

We have posted your Visa Card with full instructions on how to activate it; please allow 7-10 working days for the Visa Card to reach you."

    • I’ve only received the claim has been validated. There doesn’t seem to be any structured, coherent system in place on their end

  • Finally receive an update:
We have ordered your personalised Visa Card which will take 7-10 days for us to receive. Once we have your card, we will mail it to you along with instructions on how to activate your card.

Looks like it will be well out of their 28 business day timeline by the time
they receive the card and then send it to me.

    • +1

      very painful process

      • +1

Yep, I haven’t had an update for a long time.

One email nearly a month ago saying my cash back has been validated.

        Nothing since..

  • Price has dropped back to $299 for Boxing Day sales, but cash back ends today (24/12)..

  • Has anyone received the visa card yet?

  • +1

I received an email on the 20th of December stating I would be receiving the card. I still haven't got it despite all their failed deadlines. I've emailed them asking for an update but I have a feeling we will be needing to start an Ombudsman claim against Philips to get our $100 cash back cards.

    • +2

I received a similar email on the same day. Have also just sent them another email to follow up.
Think I’ll be avoiding any Philips cashback promotions in the future.

  • I received an email saying they are waiting for the funds from Philips 🤔

    • Have you got the card?

  • I just received an email from Philips in reply to me asking to confirm if the card was dispatched.

They informed me the card hasn't been sent yet, that they are awaiting funds from Philips still. There was no date given this time, just that the card will be sent 'as soon as possible'. I don't believe this is a good enough reply.

I replied asking for an actual date to be given to me when I should expect the $100 card, else I will have to start an ACCC or relevant ombudsman complaint.

    • +1

Still haven't heard back from them.

Put in an ACCC complaint this morning. Hopefully it lights a fire under their butt so we can all get the cashback already, 2+ months after applying for them.

  • Good Afternoon,

Thank you for your email regarding your Philips Christmas Cash Back Claim.

Currently your claim has been validated. You will receive an email confirmation once your claim has been validated and again when your gift card has been despatched to your nominated address on your Online claim.

    We appreciate your patience.

That's the email I and many others received after doing the cashback in mid November.

Then December 20th they sent an email stating the $100 gift card was being sent to me and to expect it in 7-10 days. 25 days past since that email and I still haven't got it yet.

If you are still waiting on it after purchasing and putting in the cashback claim in November, I highly suggest putting an ACCC complaint - https://www.accc.gov.au/contact-us/contact-the-accc/report-a…

      Name of business:
      PHILIPS ELECTRONICS AUSTRALIA LIMITED
      ABN:

        Thanks complaint lodged

      • +2

lodged with the receipt and email. Thanks,

        • lodged complaint with ACCC with invoice and email info. thanks . Hope these scam artists at Philips get forced to do something about it soon.

  • Today’s response: Your claim is currently “pending despatch” which means we are just waiting for the VISA cards to come into our office.

Once we have received them, them out and you will get an email once it has been despatched.

    • Another response when I replied to the above email asking when I would receive the cashback (after pointing out that they told me they would received the cards in 10 days on December 20):

Please be assured that your cash back will be posted to you as soon as possible.

Your claims status is currently ‘pending despatch’. This means we are waiting on funds to be allocated by Philips and payments to be processed once these funds are received

    • +1

I received that too. Still not feeling confident that it will arrive. Hopefully ACCC will follow up with them

  • Received an email earlier today saying to expect the card within 3 weeks.

A month ago they said 10 days, turns out they meant ~60.

    • Will believe it when it actually shows up

  • Just received an email confirming the gift card is already posted.

    • Yes, after making multiple threats of ACCC previously and then actually sending a complaint to ACCC yesterday, got an email today from these clowns at Philips saying gift card is posted. What a pain in the neck experience its been. I'll believe it when I get the card, activate it and be able to use $100 value on EFTPOS..

    • Received the same email as well, hoping it actually shows up

  • +4

Just let you know the card finally arrived today.

    • Mine just came too!

Looks like the ACCC complaints expedited the delivery. 9 days after the complaint the card was in the mail.

      • Are the ACCC actually that efficient?

        • I wouldn’t be surprised.

EWOV in the past has had issues resolved with both my water + electricity companies within a few days with assigned case officers.

I never heard back from ACCC though, so it’s possible they didn’t do anything and it’s a coincidence.

          • @c0balt: Did the ACCC get back to you after the complaint was lodged?

The last time I lodged a complaint with Fair Trading QLD regarding a watch that had repeated problems which was then replaced but developed a problem again, they literally said there's nothing they can do as they can't force the manufacturer to provide any remedy. That was a waste of time.

  • Mine arrived today. Thanks to everyone who lodged a complaint/chased up on this, it allowed everyone who purchased to get theirs.

  • +2

I got mine yesterday and activated today. Checked balance and yes the card has got $100 value on it.

What I find interesting is, the balance was loaded up on Mon 21-01-2019 and mailed out.
I had sent the complaint to ACCC on Sun 20-01-2019 and an email on the Sunday to these clowns saying I have complained to ACCC.

I think that lit a fire under their a$$.

Hey, thanks again OzBargain community for standing up and complaining against w@nkers like this.
Thanks to ozbargainer c0balt for putting up the links to ACCC and infomation on how to send off the complaint. Cheers.

    • Sorry I didn't read the paper come with the card. Is the card need to be activated? I tried to use it as credit card to pay the bill but no sucess. At the back of the card saying "this is not a credit card and cannot be used at all Visa acceptance locations." Who shall I use it?

      • +1

Yes it's gotta be activated online, you'll also need to put in the last 4 digits of your mobile phone number when you activate.

The website (for my card anyway) was https://ichoosegift.mycardplace.com/

        • Thank you so much. Activated it.

  • Got my gift card today
