  • Thumbs up for this product, I’ve got two of them (albeit Zigbee) at home and they work flawlessly.

    • Just curious what you use them for? The power monitoring feature to see how much power things used? Also power off tv instead of using standby mode?

Got a part time pool that gets put up over summer.
Run the filter between 11pm and 7am when power is cheap.

    • Do you use the Mihome app?
      Does the countdown timer works?
      What server are you on?
      Thanks

      • +1

I used MiHome to initially set up, but I use Home Assistant to drive it all now, so I’m not sure if the countdown timer works.
        Server - mainland China

Thanks for this, but if it's Zigbee then surely it's not WiFi, no?
(This would require the xiaomi gateway or another zigbee hub)

    • +1

Yes for the Zigbee version you need the hub.

  • Does anyone know if the wireless socket plug that comes with the Xiaomi Home Security kit is the Wi-Fi or Zigbee version?

    • That'd the the zigbee version, like this one I'd say

  • +2

Title on this is confusing - as per previous comment above. Shouldn’t it be either Wifi OR Zigbee, rather than both???

    • +2

Title has been updated. Removed "Wifi".

Whats this for? monitor power usage? timer? Isn't this thing wasting power at all time?

  • Who would use ZigBee rather than Bluetooth or WiFi nowadays? Just curious

    • +2

Lower power consumption and apparently also more reliable

    • +2

ZigBee can form a mesh network for powered devices like these.

      • That's awesome. Thanks, good to know

      • @ebenezer7, Have you managed to use one of these switches to build a mesh? I've had no luck. Online documentation seems contradictory for these specific devices.

        • -1

From what I read when I was researching this, the xiaomi zigbee implementation didn't enable this feature

          • @kacak: Are you sure about this? I can confirm that when I remove this socket which is near the end of my house other sensors go offline. When I plug it back in they come back online.

            • @12Ozguy12: I could be wrong, but thought that’s what I read from some forums. But your personal experience sounds like it might actually be doing the mesh function. I’ll try to find the source of my (mid)understanding and post here latwr

Why channel more traffic through your home wifi network, have yet another ip address to manage etc? If you set things up right, Using zigbee means your router doesn't see comms between the hub and device and zigbee just looks after itself.

  • BTW, CEO of Joybuy is a rape suspect, FYI

Upvoted your unrelated unsolicited comment coz it was fun!

Like he raped them in the shoulder with his fingers?
Like 36 years ago, no evidence provided?
Like they slept to get a promotion, but they want a higher position now?
Like it was consensual then regretted a fun night later?

      • Man, get some help

  • Count down timer does not work for zigbee version.
