  • $250 more than the last TV? What the hell?

EDIT: Didn't notice this is LED. Not worth the extra cost IMO.

  • "wow LED"

thats what the following posts would say

  • Huh..

    LED or LED backlit?

    • True LED isn't on the market yet is it? Or am I way behind the times haha

    • LED backlit. any kind of true LED screen at 42" would cost manyyy thousands. It would be gorgeous though :P

    • I rather OLED than LED
then again largest OLED screen is/was 22 inches last tie I checked

  • I thought you were closing down and your previous sale was the last of your stock :)
I guess claiming that would have helped with the sale.

    • hahah

does anyone buy into those closing down sales thing anymore

      • +8

but the rug shop guy said they were closing down.

        • I suppose it would take a long time to to sell out all your stock when you have "rugs a million".

    • +1

going by how well this deal is going so far, they will really be closing down this time :)

  • +2
    • that wins over this by postage.

    • good find if it is!

    • No free HDMI cable (big deal though …) but the extended warranty kills this as any sort of bargain! $199 for an extra 2 years must be a joke, surely.

Still … at least they offer an extended warranty.

What ever happened to closing down and 'bringing no more TVs in'? They still have the LCDs listed. I think it sounds like alot of bs marketing

  • If you're looking for a cheap TV that size, this is worth knowing about: http://aldi.com.au/au/html/offers/2827_17349.htm. Nearly $200 cheaper.

    • +1

But not LED backlit like this one so of course it's cheaper. Still, good buy at Aldi.

  • +1

the wattage between LED and LCD is same

  • Contrast ratio is less which means picture wont be as good as those of other brands.

  • +4

How can you go from closing down, to back in business with only a 'limited number' of tv's for sale. Bullllllllllllshit.

  • LED Edge lit or backlit?

    • Almost certainly LED Edgelit at that price point. No particular advantage over Cold Cathode, is there?

      • Whats the difference?
Don't even the high end LG LED panels that Apple use on their 27" screens 'bleed'?

  • +2

neg for lying about closing down

  • +1

Apart from the BS about closing down, these guys don't seem to have a good grasp of our tax laws! I've just been reading a page on their website called "How much does an LCD TV actually cost?" and it says the following:

"…the importer must pay 10% GST on shipments into Australia over the value of $1,000", which is true.

It also says "…Now, when the importer sells this TV in Australia he/she would charge the customer GST, which is 10% of the final sale value." which is also true.

But what they don't say is that if you re-sell a product - as a retailer does - then you get back the GST you paid when you bought the product from the importer or wholesaler or whoever you sourced the goods from.

You DON'T pay GST twice on anything, it's on the final sale only.

No wonder they're going out of business if they're paying GST twice!!!

  • Hi All,

There's quite a bit of concern from those commenting about the "closing down" sale previously mentioned.

The ad was genuine and was intended to clear TVs we had previously bought.
2 days later the title and description was changed to reflect that the TVs sold out both on Oz Bargain and on our website.
Considering that they did sell out in this short period we decided to give it another go. Vivo is not our own brand, so we do not "ship containers from china". We find Australian suppliers and offer it for cheaper than the bigger outlet stores by cutting down the profit margin.

    Why Vivo?

Australian company, affordable prices. DSE sold the 42" LCD for about $550. After finding out the cost, we found we could easily beat this.

Being an online retailer, it is much simpler to close down or start-up a business at any time. Which would explain the sudden influx of "Australian Chinese-manufactured" electronics seen in recent times.

    Any more questions are welcome.

anyone else thinking about 'You don't mess with the Zohan' - well, I am, and it's funny!

      • not thinking of it but yeah forced psychology has made me think about it
LOL..remember the scen where he shags all the old women..wait that was half the movie

        • +1

my reference was more about the electronics store that I'm pretty sure they just called 'closing down' :P

  • So are you closing down then?

    • As long as we can keep bringing down the cost of TVs, we're staying open!
