  • I got these for $384 by combining few deals a month or so back.
Setup is easy. Good coverage. These are big units though and not he best aesthetics.

Only issue I face is that you cant have separate SSID for 2.4 and 5ghz channels.
I have had issue connecting my Broadlink for home automation and forums talk of issues with 2.4ghz garage doors etc. So just beware.

    • I found it didn't play well with Google devices and casting so I got rid of it. Didn't like things on different bands.

      Maybe updates have fixed it….

      • nope its definitely not fixed! its one of the issue's ive already faced otherwise everything else is seamless..

        • I had to go to 4 Google WiFi pucks to make up for switching from these…. and adding network switches sigh. Such unnecessary clutter.

          • @scuderiarmani: i'll be keeping them, will just have to figure something out for the casting .. lol

        • I have read about issues with google casting and android app restarting the device.
I have not had any such issues so far.

          • @Bippz01: that's encouraging .. :) i turned on beam-forming and roaming, MU-Mimo etc and that definitely doesn't play nice with my samsung note8 .. it drops to 4g then reconnects often…

            • @scud70: That's so irritating.
My previous S6 and now Note 9 have no issues.
Wifey has a S9 and no issues so far.

              • @Bippz01: no big deal i was just playing around turning features on .. i dont actually need them … i'll turn one off at a time and see which sticks hahaha

i still think there's some issue's when roaming off the main to sattelite…

          • @Bippz01: Maybe you got lucky and your devices conveniently connected on the same band.

            • @scuderiarmani: No I often check the app to see what's connected to what.

              Mixed connectivity.
              Lucky I suppose.

          • @Bippz01: Initially I encountered the reboot issue but a firmware update fixed this particular issue.

I can't recall exactly when, quite some time ago, only that one of the changelog improvements enabled wired backhaul.

  • That is very cheap… i had vouchers but i paid $498 (minus vouchers) at HardlyNormal really good just on another level saves from having to cable your house so that saved me a bunch of money.

  • I thought the original RRP was 650. I had one at launch.

  • A new Wi-Fi standard ax or Wi-Fi 6 is not far away so if you have an option it's probably worth waiting for.

  • Paid $439 in June for mine, so this is a decent price. Very good bit of kit that is coping well with a lot of devices - rarely have any issues with it.

  • Noob Q, I plug this router into my FTTN modem?

    • +1

Yep, just need to put your modem into bridge mode ideally.

  • Thanks, bought one just before deal expiry :)
