      • Thanks!

  • Who needs magnesium? You get it in your diet.

Apparently it helps if you get cramps frequently.

      • Yeah, I was recommended it during remedial massage and have used it since. Stops cramping very quickly.

        • Feel free to buy some and try it for yourself

        • Yes agree, the magnesium tabs stop cramps very quickly

    • I use it for migraines and back pain, also helps with sleep quality

      • Source? Other than anecdotes?

          • @Homeliving8: A listicle by a dietician is not a worthy source, next.

              A listicle

              Is that something hairy?

@[Deactivated]: There is a full report here which outlines all the info. My use was based on the findings for Osteoporosis. There is still further research and study needed to be done to determine its effects on migraine but diets higher in magnesium can result in lower risk of diabetes.

@dylo: Now that's more like it! Fair enough, I can see some some use cases. Cheers :)

          Cochrane Collaboration

          Authors' conclusions
It is unlikely that magnesium supplementation provides clinically meaningful cramp prophylaxis to older adults experiencing skeletal muscle cramps. In contrast, for those experiencing pregnancy‐associated rest cramps the literature is conflicting and further research in this patient population is needed. We found no randomized controlled trials evaluating magnesium for exercise‐associated muscle cramps or disease state‐associated muscle cramps (for example amyotrophic lateral sclerosis/motor neuron disease).

          • @gummibear: Also doesn't help with cramps caused by some medications, like diuretics.

          • @gummibear: Lol not sure who they tested on but they obviously didn’t test young and mature sports people. I can 100% promise you that magnesium tablets will knock out my shocking leg cramps following soccer games in about 10 minutes flat. I wouldn’t be able to still play 90 minute football games at mid forties without magnesium supplementation. A much younger 28yo team mate also gets plenty of benefit from cramps with magnesium tabs. I have also had plenty of success with magnesium oil that I make myself for little more than a $1 a bottle.

    • Can't really vouch for these products, but just Mg in general.

Magnesium supplements are one of those classic naturopathic/dietician recommendations. From research, magnesium both from food and from supplements is absorbed differently and how the body uses it depends in part on other nutrients (either in the food, or the supplement mix) and physiological factors as well.

After nearly a decade of chronic muscular issues I was recommended a regular dose of fairly decent product and it has - at the very least - reduced those symptoms after a period of use. It's not going to be of assistance to everyone, but discounting Magnesium supplements as something everyone "gets enough of" would not be entirely correct either.

      • I hear it also helps THCa d CBD absorption for those who are using it for medical reasons.

It does, now you tell me this?

  • Do you have pure magnesium powder? Not the eating kind. I need it to make…something.

    • Just the flakes at the moment

    • We’ve just added the marine magnesium powder 100g. If your still looking?
