This gazebo was around $87~ during the recent SCA sale. For the 3x3M deluxe gazebos, my understanding is that the Wanderer (BCF), OzTrail (Varies) and Ridge Ryders (SCA) are the same item (just re-branded differently).

I looked at these, but the Oztrail deluxe seemed as good and they're everywhere (owners always said they're good) and can be had for less.

I've seen both side by side. The Oztrail canopy is thinner. 300 denier vs 420 denier for the Wanderer. So I expect you'd get more life out of the Wanderer canopy. You can however buy new canopies. The frame was pretty much identical to my untrained eye.

Oztrail have a tonne of accessories for their gazebos which adds to their versatility. Do your own diligence but I'd say there's a high chance you can use the Oztrail accessories with other brands of gazebo.

All that said, I think there's better value to be had from other brands than the Wanderer. $199 is still expensive. Like @moo said above, the SCA deluxe gazebo could be had for less than $90 recently. I know because I got one.

"Designed to provide shade" - lucky BCF included that. I was thinking of getting one to store water.

    • They do a pretty good job of that too during a storm.

If anyone is interested, I can highly recommend the 3x3m blue Kings/4WD supacentre gazebo. Very good quality and if you keep and eye out in their emails it has gone on sale at $89 before.

Can probably check out the quality in store too. It withstood 5 days of Phillip Island winds for us just recently.

      • Yeah that's full price I believe. I still don't think it's bad value at that price compared to other ones I've seen in the sub-$150 price range.

If you can deal with receiving WAY too many marketing emails, and you're not in a hurry, it goes on sale regularly enough for $99 and a few times I've seen it for $89.

Also be aware they only guarantee prices for that day - you can call up and pay for it and they've got good opening hours but by the next day it could be a totally different price which can be frustrating.

        • Good idea, wait for the next big sales, I am an indoor person, barely use gazebos hehe

          • @Yaren24: The link in krisreys comment includes the side walls.

            • @Dealayed: @Yaren24 FYI it's $94 today which is pretty close to the cheapest I've seen it.

the walls, are OK but not as suitable for high wind as the rest of the structure. We used one for the above mentioned 5 days at Phillip Island - it was pretty windy and the wall didn't totally tear but it's starting to near where it attaches by velcro to the legs. We'll just keep using it until it breaks and probably buy another for the price though.

  • Good price by BCF, i have had this gazebo , and have just purchased this one from 4wd supa centre, And i find the adventure kings 1 to be if not the same quality, maybe better. And you get 2 sides with it.

  • I have the Ridge Ryder version that seems to have an identical frame, just a little different roof (including being gusseted). Love it and is completely waterproof.

Can these sort of tents be used at home for months as a shade for cars? Just until the summer heat has finished.

    • +1

Don't see why not if its secured properly? You can always replace the roof/tent bit if it breaks down over time.

    • Or you could get a retractable awning. Much more expensive, but a neater solution.

      • The way our house and drive way is positioned I think I would have to pay heaps because it would have to be a long stretch

  • I bought one of the 90-dollary-do ones last sale. I took it camping soon after. Pretty good for the money. Has adjustments in height to get that little abit higher compared to the aldi one. Pretty light for a steel one too. only caveat is that the cover dosent collapse with the gazebo so you have to fold up and pack separate.

  • I am waiting for a good bargain on either the Oztrail Deluxe or Ridge Ryder as they have a ventilated roof. These styles are better for for ventilation and also means the gazebo is less likely to lift off in gusty winds :-)
