Honestly I am just chuffed SSD's are coming down, hopefully the next Gen of consoles have SSD's and much improved loading times.

    • You can just buy a SSD if you own an xbox

      • Or a PS4

      • Aren't the benefits minimal and in no way comparable to an SSD on a PC?

        • Loads up games quicker

          • +2

@Griffindinho: I know what they do but I'm pretty sure they aren't as fast in a console as they are in a PC. That was the point I was trying to make

            • @Kozhutki: even loading games on a pc, makes minimal difference in speed..when running on ssd

              • +1

@pinkybrain: Thats so wrong, its about twice as fast on my pc compared to my HDD

                • @Jofzar: Here's a video comparison

                  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kqMhdgGsVI

yes you see it does load a bit faster but..

I think in the real world you wouldn't notice that much difference between a few seconds etc
unless you looked at both videos side by side.

Basically there is a slightly faster load up
but not earth shattering difference in the real world..

There are some exception to some games though (e.g. FFXV) which does have a big improvement
as shown in the video comparison
but most of the other games were about a few seconds difference.

As you can see in the video
it is definitely not "twice as fast" as you claimed..
since that would mean that a game takes 20 second would take only 10 seconds
but if you looked at the graph, it does not show twice as fast loading for most of those games.

              • @pinkybrain: Eh yeah can't agree with you there. There's a significant difference with a lot of games. Not to mention a windows boot.

                • @Kozhutki: Yeah SSD on console is like 10% gain on MOST games whereas PC is atleast 40% not including windows OS 100% Lol

                • +1

@Kozhutki: we weren't talking about windows boot

this is about whether it makes big difference in gaming load times.

                  • @pinkybrain: Compare Battlefield loads with both hdds, compare WoW loads with both hdds, compare GTA with both hdds. There is a distinct difference.

                    • @Kozhutki: I didn't say not all games would benefit
Go watch the video I posted..

While some games do have big benefit
The majority only has a few seconds improvement
and you would not noticed unless you had a side by side comparison.

Just watch the video I posted.

                      • @pinkybrain: Will do when I'm at home.. Not trying to fight with you or anything.

        • I have an SSD in my PS4 and it makes a big difference for a lot of games , especially long loading games like destiny, but for other games like fortnite, Battlefield its not that big a deal because everyone loads in before the game starts anyway.

Either way - it does make a difference, shaving up to 30 seconds off certain games - HOWEVER - ps4 isnt designed to take advantage of the SSD so it definately doesnt load as quick as games on PC, even though they're both on SSD.

All this is from my own personal experience - though I did notice on Battlefield I could pretty much always get a vehicle if I wanted first, as I loaded into the game quickest.

They increased the price by 10%. I had it in my cart last night and was $112.5.

    • Thats normal these days

    • how long have you been on this site?
no one is surprise by this anymore..

      • +5

It’s sad that people are comfortable with price jacking.

        • It's not about being comfortable

The question is what can you do about it?

          Either people

-accept it as reality (has been occurring so long now so people are no longer surprised and expect this to occur with each ebay sale)
          -do not buy the items
-contact ACCC or the media etc..

Those are the only options people have.

If you don't like it, then file a report with ACCC and fair trading
Hopefully if enough people do this, something can be done about this..

          • @pinkybrain: Advising, hoping others do something about it… While you support it. Strange.
