Is this a new all time low? Nice.

    • I believe it is the first time below $200

    • Yes.

  • +1

That cashback rate is horrible! Good price on the drive though!

    • Better than eBay (just)

  • +1

SSDs are finally becoming affordable as your only drive.

    • +1

But all the other components are still expensive and power supplies seem to be on a rise too :/

      • +3

        Yeah ram is absurd.

If you know how to shop around you can often find used stuff like 4th gen motherboard/processors with DDR3 ram for a very affordable price. The motherboard/cpu/ram is less than just the ram would be on new parts.

        • +1

Definitely. The 4770/4790k CPUs are still pretty good and the i5s still hold up well too. PC hardware has become so inflated in Australia that you can't even build a system to beat the Xbox One X console for $500 - but even that has it's flaws.
Not just PC hardware to be honest just tech in general.

          • @Ostrk: Not just in Australia. Elsewhere seems like this for RAMs and CPUs as well from what I can see on reddit.

        • +1

It's slowly coming down though. A lot better then it was at the start of the year.

From now on, new benchmarks! Here to next weekend, other sellers will follow…take your breath

Given that these are coming from the US - what's warranty like

    • +1

US warranty means you have to send it back to the US. Samsung Australia won't cover it. Nor will you get Assassin's Creed game code

      • +2

You're not getting AC game code locally anymore anyway.

        Promotional Period
Start Time and Date : 9:00 AM AEDT on Monday, 8 October 2018
End Time and Date : 5:00 PM AEDT on Sunday, 4 November 2018

      • +2

What is the chances of relying to warranty for this sort of product historically?

      • +3

It's really really tempting, but I think I'll hold out for black friday and hope someone comes down to 200 with local warranty… (maybe amazon + 8pct cashback ;)

  • Op, the Samsung T5 500GB portable SSD is $148.50 delivered. You might want to add it to your post.

live by the bargain, die by the bargain!

    • Yep. Paid $215 for the 500GB version of this in February :/

    • …and 3 mths later ppl will be saying this?
its a never ending cycle mate ;)

  • Nice post OP, all time low for 1TB.

  • How can we connect this to the laptop, can someone please help

    • +3

Either via usb with a 2.5 inch sata enclosure, or if you want to put it inside, it will vary laptop to laptop so find your manufacturer's instructions.

      • Sorry, but could you please suggest a good 2.5 inch sata enclosure. And can we make this ssd as primary and migrate the data from existing hdd.

    • lazy

  • Thanks OP!
    Just ordered one.

$127.99 on their US site which is around $175 Aus. Nice little markup of $20 to cover shipping :(

    • +2

GST, and shipping, GST 10% so $17.50, it is free shipping.

      • forgot about the GST when I did the conversion

      • They charge more than the 10% for GST though, not sure exactly how they justify it. Purchased some ram from them last week and it was $125 for the ram and they estimated $12.50, but then got to checkout and it suddenly became $14.36 for GST. Not the end of the world, just does seem a little dodgy trying to claim it's GST.

        • +1

I belief its the GST on top of the GST, so its like 11%

          • @Andrew1232: Haha that's ridiculous. Surprised they can get away with it whilst claiming it's GST. Bet if I charged people more calling it 'GST' I'd get the ATO coming down hard on me!

  • +7

    "GST-Inclusive Price".. thanks LNP Government.

  • +1

just a little while longer to black friday

    • +3
