  • Their shipping time is bad. Been 8 full days as of today, my order hasn't arrived in syd/melb yet

    • Newegg has outrageously slow shipping, but its free

      • +1

I just expect their shipping time to be accurate.

      • +1

It is free now because of the GST, last time I bought from them (2017) it took 1 month to arrive, paid 70aud to deliver but after 2 days complaining I got my 70 back o/

    • +3

Allow for 2 weeks from the date your tracking shows the first update to when you get it delivered.

Mine was November 6th update of shipping info received.

November 20th today delivered, this was to Brisbane though.

      • Weird I got my tracking since nov 7 and still haven’t received mine. What a joke

    • Umm, isn't Newegg from US?
8 full days isn't exactly a long time for international shipping.
Unless of course they've open an AU warehouse that I'm unaware of?

      • Last year when I bought my 580 from them it got to rural qld in 7 days of purchase it was crazy

      • Some items are in their Australian warehouse? or possibly local distributor.

    • It took a month for me.

    • Free shipping with NewEgg is DHL Ecommerce

So allow up to 1 month for delivery.

    • lol. I couldn't agree more. It took them 25 days to deliver some RAM to Perth. When tracking just disappeared I did some digging.

I found how their shipping operates is amazing — this is what I found:
      1. You think it is shipped by DHL and it is, in the US
      2. once it hits Sydney and clears customs, it is outsourced to a group called eRetail logistics
      3. This eRetail logistics group (at least in Perth) outsources it to a group called Megasave
      4. Megasave outsources to a private contractor

So what you think is a package delivered by DHL is actually a guy in a private van named Bob.

  • To buy now or wait for it to possibly be cheaper over black friday/cyber monday?

    • Same, I Want to buy this but at the same time i want to get this. Honestly I feel like you could find the same ram for like $20 less though.

  • I paid $225 for this a couple of weeks ago. good deal.

    • -5

That's insane. I paid $150 for 32GB Vengeance LPX more than 3 years ago. I should have bought 3200GB!

Is this ram set good for ryzen ?

    • Ryzen is pretty good with most ram now. I found even most of the Intel specific ddr is supported on amd motherboards.

    • If you really want "good for Ryzen" RAM then you should get Samsung B-Die based DIMMS

      These are Samsung E-Die

It's not as much of an issue any more with Ryzen Gen2 but I still have problems on my R7 1700 @ 3200Mhz

      • I've seen B-Die been recommended before, but how do I tell what die is in what RAM?

Is there anything else to look for when selecting RAM for Ryzen? Speed? Latency?
The only other thing that's recommended is to make sure to use dual channels?

        • 3200 CL14 is guaranteed bdie. Basically the lowest latencies for any highish end ram kit is samsung bdie.

        • Go to the motherboard manufacturer website. It will list compatible modules for your setup. Search on those codes and you'll be fine.

          • @4foxache: IIRC they usually just list a fraction of supported RAMs

        • I'm afraid I'm the right guy to answer this qn. I've spent countless number of hours looking at how to get good bdie here in Australia and its sad to say how little options there are in our own local market. There are many sites out there that have a catalogue of confirmed b-dies. Let me know if you want it.

The guys are right about 3200 CL14 to be generally B-die. Personally I have found these to be quite expensive on the Newegg website, especially for the RGB variants. Bdie is only found in 8gb modules and will generally range from low 300s to high 450s

lmk if you're interested in knowing more.

          • @Ghosteye: I've been looking as well, barely any options for it :( and the only ones I've found are like $350+ (G.skill Trident Z 16gb). Figured I'm just going to follow JMC's advice and grab Corsair LPX 3000 CL15 for $229

        • I saw the b-die thread on Reddit yesterday and I'm wondering if there any risk associated with choosing not b-die ram. It's not easy to find one with a good price for me to make a pc with Ryzen 5 2600.

          • @chewchew: I went with Corsair LPX 3000 CL15. No clue what die it is (probably Hynix), works perfectly at 2933 MHz using default XMP profile on my Ryzen 2600. I've heard 2nd gen Ryzen is pretty good with most RAM.

    • +2

I have this kit with my 2700x. works fine with advertised speeds at stock volts, mine is slightly overclocked with tighter timings (CL15) and clocks at 1.35v.

You will probably get slightly better performance with CL14 or CL15 RAM but i'm not sure how big those gains are anymore.

I think these chips are Hynix BTW.

  • Very cheap!
I bought same set 3 months ago for $300

  • Wow.Thanks OP!

  • Can anyone suggest good MOBO Pref not too exxy, but good is important) to pair this with for a 1700X (some photo work, 18hrs/day use, no overclock)?

Or is compatibility an "old" Ryzen thing these days?

  • Good timing as needed some for a new build, thanks OP

  • Good to see the RAM prices falling. I bought this kit in july for $245 on an ebay sale.

  • +3

    I need the 2x16GB version.

I have a AMD Ryzen so I'm torn between paying more for an AMD (Samsung B-Die) version or just winging it with the cheaper Intel (Hynix) version.

Strangely the F4-3200C16D-32GTZR'X' (16-18-18-38) is identical to the non-AMD (Hynix) timings so I am wondering if the 16D AMD version is even using Samsung B-DIE's at all.

I'm considering this which is a deal in itself, just unsure if I should take the gamble.

    2x16gb (3000Mhz) for $409 after CashRewards cashback.

    • I've paired the F4-3200C16D-32GTZR kit with the Asus strix x470 f-gaming and 2600 and it works out of the box with 3200 D.O.C.P profile. nil crashes reported from my brother whom i've built the system for

Edit: was the F4-3200C16D-16GTZR (2x8gb) kit not the 32gb kit you mentioned but in saying that the F4-3200C16D-16GTZR is on the QVL for the mobo so check your mobo's QVL but theres a good chance that it'll work

Also the Samsung B-die is worth it (IMO). Running the 3200Cl14 kit on my own Crosshair7H/2700x combo. no issues with OC'ing to 3400 keeing it at CL14 timings and even to 3600 with looser timings using DRAM calc for Ryzen

    • Same same same dude. Did you end up pulling the trigger?

      • Yes, I ended up getting the G.Skill Trident Z RGB 3000Mhz (16-18-18-38) for $410 after cashrewards cashback.

Though there is also this Corsair Vengeance RGB (same specs) for about $380 which I became aware of after pulling the trigger. Not sure… Might stay with the G.Skill for the sake of $30, I feel it might be the better quality RAM.

Hope this helps and tell me what you end up doing, I could still be persuaded over to that $380 option :D

        • +1

11 hours later, lots of RAM research & I just pulled the trigger on this haha. Thought that I'd kick myself later on if it expires & goes up in price & I would like my build to be done by Xmas :) From what I believe it's not the greatest RAM for Ryzen but it's still pretty decent & this is a true bargain. Also imo these look better & more aesthetically pleasing over the Corsair :)

          • @NeedWifeForVeryCheap: Awesome! Did you get this 16gb kit or the 32gb kit like I got?

I also agree, they look better than corsair, and those were the first Gen corsair too.

I think we'll both be safe! Worst case we can probably resell at a profit if we had to. But they'll work!

  • Would this set of RAM work with this Mobo? https://www.newegg.com/global/au-en/Product/Product.aspx?Ite…

It says 3200 is compatible with OC. Not sure what that means.

    • +1

Yes, that should work mate. The motherboard has an overclock(OC) option within the BIOS to support higher memory frequency i.e 3200Mhz. If not enabled, the memory will run at 2667Mhz/2400Mhz.

      • Alright thanks. Anyone have experience with this Mobo? I went with this one because I need 8x Sata ports (most of the new ones come with only 6).

  • Good price, just bought exact same thing 2 weeks ago for $250.

  • I see there's a fair few 1 star ratings on these compared to other G.Skill models which is scaring me..

I really want this but am worried there will be compatibility issues with my Ryzen 1700X CPU that I purchased last week which was posted on here..

I'm yet to purchase the Motherboard though which may be a good thing if I do end up purchasing this. So I can ensure I get the most compatible MOBO to go with Ryzen 1700x + this RAM. Any professionals here willing to chime in?

Is B-Die really worth the extra or have the recent BIOS updates fixed this issue earlier on in the year? Cheers

    • +1

I'm sort of in the same boat, bought the 1700x from the deal posted last week and have also picked up an x470 Gigabyte Aorus Gaming 7 WIFI so hoping this ram plays nice with it all.

      • Nice dude, do you know if you also need to purchase a Wifi Card to go with that MOBO if you wanted to use Wifi on it?

        • Don't think so it's the wifi version so should be good to go. Got it through newegg for about $350 which isn't super cheap (although a bit cheaper than local stores) but I wanted something future proof and good quality to build around.

  • Would this be compatible for a asrock x370 gaming X and ryzen 1600?

  • Thanks, bought it

  • argh, to buy or wait till Friday and hope there's a better deal!!!!!

    • I had the same dilemma and ended up just waiting for the GPU for Friday

  • So, $201.858 AUD after Cashback? Not bad at all.. why can't these be B-Die tho? :/

    • c14 will be B die

  • finally the day has come, now i can rest in piece

  • Does anyone know how well newegg is with express international shipping? I see quite a few of you saying the free/standard shipping takes usually 1 month, but does anyone have experience with express?

I'm thinking of buying a few things from newegg that after gst and shipping, still beats local prices by $40 or more.

    Cheers.

  • Did anyone else get an auto-RMA on these? My status was waiting to ship, now they have RMA'd it without any input from me, saying it's a carrier issue due to an incorrect address? Confirmed the account address is correct, and I've also received a few parcels from Newegg to the same address recently.

    • Not for me, mines in transit
