      sounds like there's a lot on board that's driving the price up, the USB DAC in particular (not that the chips are expensive, but you pay for features you know).

      depending on your use case I'm sure you could find a more cost effective solution, especially if you just want some speakers to hook up to an amplifier.

      For their size they are quite good. If you're not fussed by something a little bigger then their are other options.

      I have a set for my office at work, and they are fantastic for the size. They're powerful and clear, however, given the size, are lacking in the low end

    I bought these for over $400 a couple of years ago and have no regrets. If you have very little desk/shelf space to work with, they're worth it. Btw I think the HD3 is the bluetooth version of these.

      There is a wedge stand, not cheap but purpose designed.
