I've been looking for a good travel camera for a while, & stumbled upon this good deal on a Panasonic Lumix TZ220. Camera is going for $980-$1100 elsewhere at other retailers.

"For a compact camera boasting powerful features, including a 15x zoom lens, don’t look past the pocket-friendly Panasonic Lumix TZ220. It’s the ultimate travel companion. With a 20.1MP sensor, 5-axis image stabilisation, 4K video and RAW image capability, this point-and-shoot won’t let you down. Wireless connectivity and a 3-inch LCD touchscreen also make it a breeze to use"

  • Aren't you worried it will be like $400.00 on Friday?

    • not really. having been monitoring the price of it for a while & i don't think it's going to dip.

You can get it for around $860 from ebay

  • Are you happy with the image quality? The lens is pretty slow so the camera will take picture with high iso most of the time which is quite noisy and not sharp.

For that price, I would rather choose this. Much larger sensor, better lens, lens interchangebility. Highly acclaimed.

This is a long zoom. It is a completely different use case.

I pasted wrong link. It should be with 14-150mm lens. Comparable zoom.

You are always making trade offs with camera gear between size/weight, cost and sensor size (not to be confused with IQ). The OMD is bigger and more costly. The TZ220 is actually pocketable and has both a wider and longer zoom range. Some venues/events also do not allow ILCs (though luckily this appears to be a US only thing right now).

          • @Fiximol: Exactly. The TZ220 and other comparable compact cameras like the Sony RX100 mk III are at the limit in size of weight of what I would call 'travel compacts' that are capable of producing excellent pictures for most situations when travelling or out and about.

For those of us who like to hike with minimal gear and want a really pocketable quality compact, even they are stretching the limits at >300g. The Canon G9X, weighing in at just 206g is truly pocket sized and has very good pq with minimal control options is better suited to what I need - a step down from the TZ200 on offer here but providing more options than a cameraphone.

            Horses for courses.

I'm buying this to help the OP because they're disabled.

    • What makes him disabled?

        Acid.

  • OP did a hit and run LMAO

  • Bought a pocketable TZ90 with superzoom, went to Japan for holiday and maybe only use it once for the whole trip, most of time snapping photos with my S8+. Unless you really wants the best quality photos, current phones have pretty good camera.
