  Tried a few hotels which aren't on the exclusion list and still doesn't work
  edit: nevermind the hotels is owned by IHG…

  I can't get it to work on Kirkton Park Hotel Hunter Valley even though it's not on the exclusion list

    The exclusion list seems to increase over time. It's hit and miss it seems

  I booked a hotel through cheaptickets only to immediately realise that it would have been cheaper booking directly through the hotel. It took months of back and forth with their US based customer service to rectify the issue. They called the rooms slightly different names to the hotel itself even though it was clearly the same room (the hotel only had 2 different types of rooms). I had to get confirmation from the hotel directly that the rooms were the same. And then even though I had already paid the full price up front, cheaptickets say that they can only provide the refund 30 days after the booking is complete. Ridiculously difficult policy to up hold but the onus was on me to research properly before booking. Also goes without saying but the prices on cheaptickets website are all in USD.

    Was it a non-refundable booking that you had problems with? I had no issues getting a full refund on a refundable booking.
    If you managed to get a refund on a non-refundable booking then you should be pretty happy.

      I wasn't after a refund. I was trying to get them to adhere to their best price guarantee, where they would pay you the difference in the lower price found, plus give you $50 credit. Trying to prove that the lower price was for a comparable room was unnecessarily difficult.

        Ah I see. I did that a few times years back with Expedia (same company) to get the $50 credit. Can't remember if I did the BRG before or after I booked, but it wasn't too much effort. You pretty much need to be on the ball with these things (price matching/beating) and have lots of screenshots to send through to minimise the back and forth communication. It's like dealing with a bloody solicitor.

          @marquise: Yeah exactly, but the frustrating thing was the name of the room on Cheaptickets was different to the name of the room on the website, even though it was actually the same room. I also had to do the conversion from AUD to USD for them, it was ridiculous.
