First time post…be gentle…etc

Seems like a great price for a TV with positive reviews from fellow OzBargainers.

To compare, Sony KD55X9000F is $1445 (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/418600)

The eBay page states 'Tonight Only', which must be linked in with the Sitewide 15% off eBay is running

It's a good price seems about right if the Sony is $1445 but the X9000F is one of the best HDR TV's

    • For everyday TV watching, Netflix, movies, etc with some PS4 gaming, would I get by fine with the Samsung TV (compared to the X9000F)?

      • X9000F has about double the input lag on a normal PS4/Xbox
But roughly the same for 4K gaming, wouldnt buy the Sony if you have the base consoles imo

        As tested on Rtings
At 1080p HDR the Samsung has 18.4 ms to the Sony's 40.8 ms
4K HDR is 18.4 ms to 24.2 ms

      • Yes it's fine, just that Sony 9 series have the best upscaling for 1080p content also the best motion of any TV. Also has Dolby Vision which can be an improvement on a few shows and movies (Lost in Space TV I saw a noticeable difference between HDR & DV) The X9000F also has great brightness - 1000nits which is almost double the Samsung. Really makes a difference with HDR and gives the TV a wow factor especially if it's your first 4K TV. Last thing is the Sony is full-array local dimming backlight where Samsung is edgelit. Means the blacks are near OLED level as it shuts off pixels that aren't needed so you won't get the grey bars when watching a movie or patches on a supposed black screen. Puts the contrast ratio so much higher.

  • This or hisense p7. Hmm…

    • I would still say P7 because it has local dimming. The only mid range TV to have it. Very important when watching movies and in a dark room. But the Samsung is still a very good TV. Try them out in the store. Seems like the differences could be quite small if the Samsung has a decent panel with no flaws.

The 65" is a SUPER good buy as well

  • I think the selling point for these TVs is the good quality and the ability for all cabling to be done via an external box (connected by a tiny fibre optic cable). A really sweet set up for a wall mounting.

    • Don't you have to buy the cable and the box separately? The cable alone is $200.

      • Oh really? Thought they came standard. That sucks. Salesmen have taken me for a ride!

        • Im pretty sure it's only the Q series that has the one connect box. Even then I think this year's Q8 doesn't have it. Maybe check for each model as it could be different.

      • oooo what is this?
