The bargain here is the sonos sub (if that can be considered a "bargain") $799 is a good price.
Someone described the Sonos sub as a "sub you can hear rather than feel". After listening to this sub, I know what they mean. I really think I prefer downward facing subs, or normal subs. Sonos tried to reinvent the wheel with this sub. When you touch the outer case when it's going, you can't feel any vibration due to the frequency cancellation going on. I'm not convinced by the design.
Also Sonos One in pair is $100 cheaper on Sonos website.
don't see it, looks like westcoast hifi is $21 cheaper to me, $499 SONOS, $478 WCHIFI

I've got a Play 5 connected to the TV along with 2 Play 1s and it works well as surround sound. I'd think quality of Play 5 > Beam

virtual 5.1 if you pair sub and two other speakers to it. You can feed tv into it; it uses hdmi although it also comes with a hdmi to optic audio cable cord.
Tried to price match at Myer to use a gift card. They would match the Sub at $799 but not the Beam as they said it was under cost at $480
Price matched with Harvey Norman through live chat. The live chat guy at the beginning said he doesn't match it because it is not a leading online retailer. But convinced him it was. :)
