No international calls on $84/month plan…meh!

Most would be better off on 85/month plan which includes below

    50GB data
    Unlimited Calls & Texts
Unlimited international Calls & Texts to 35 countries
Roaming while overseas with 2GB data and unlimited standard international talk and text in Zone 1 countries (more than 70% of the world population)

    • I'm surprised international calls are starting to get included in plans!

Its not a new phenomenon…I bought my wife Iphone 8 plus on that epic boxing day deal last year for $64/month with 20GB, unlimited calls & text and 300 international minutes. My 3 year old virgin plan had'em too.

Lot of Australians are first, second or third generation immigrants so they do value included international calls.

    • The $85 plan does not include roaming, the $105 plan does

      • It did at the time I replied to the post. Well, that's Optus for you… their offers keep changing at the drop of a hat. Must have realised their mistake.

  • Got it for $1265 after 15 % sitewide and will be claming TRS as well so nearly $1130. Gonna try it until get S10 in February.

    • Beware when claiming TRS.if you are Australian residents you cannot bring back the item over $900.

      • If you are couple I guess you can bring items upto $1800 without paing gst back.

      • By the time you bring it back it's 2-3 months old and depreciated, likely <$900

        • True but by the time I get back there will be another one ( Galaxy S10) to buy.

          • @[Deactivated]: That means you'll need to book another holiday SO that you can claim TRS…!

            • @SmiTTy: Haha not really.

      • ain’t going to be worth $900 after you charge and use it.

only an issue if you bring it back still sealed in a box new.

      • Can Australian citizen claim trs?

says if you have one of those screens they are happy to refund or replace, can’t ask for more than that, and it’s australian stock so even easier.

there’s a lot of tech that makes up a phone and most manufacturers seem to have a sort coming or another at some stage, be it samsung, apple, etc.

it’s how easily thins are resolved if you had the bad luck of the draw that matters.

they make millions and a few dud is small statistically, unlike samsung battery which was a recall …not many phones get recalled
      .

I've got the phone. Mine is affected as well although not as bad. I didn't realise I had a problem until I went looking for it. There is almost a 60 page thread on optus yes crowd about it.

Optus don't know what is going on and are replacing affected stock with affected stock. People are referring them to the ACCC for selling known affected stock. There is also a bit of confusion as to the process, some stores as saying need to ship phone to boomerang, others are doing it on the spot. Then another store has advised that all store stock has been pulled. People are being told they could be without a phone for a month while it is being assessed.

      • More or less it is an inconvenience though, if your phone is affected, especially if you don't have a store nearby. Some people had screen issue creep up after a week of using it.

  • My one doesn't have the issue. I got the phone as a replacement for an S9 after issues that I had with Optus. I have also used the S9+ for one month. The Mate 20 Pro blows them both away. The battery life is unbelievable (2 days) and the camera is comparable to my Fujifilm XT20 with the 60mm lens which are worth nearly $3000!

S9+ seems to have better battery life than Mate 20 Pro as per GSMArena's testing results.

Also, if you're getting better picture from Mate 20 Pro compared to Fujifilm XT20, I think its time to train yourself in digital photography. I would suggest starting with the basics. This one is a good read.

      • Lol, I've been doing photography for nearly 20 years so I think I'm doing OK.

There is no way the S9+ has a better battery life. I was getting a days use from the S9+. I'm getting to the end of the day with 60% with the Huawei.

  • Wait for Christmas deal, probably only 69/m.

  • Gf signed up today for this phone, it's a great deal! Confirmed with the guy that Optus does have unaffected stock and are replacing units for customers.

All stores Victoria wide are sold out including all resellers. May as well just order online through Optus.
